I have fish the intracoastal in Fort Lauderdale for years. My go to bait for Mangrove snappers. Is silversides. Break them in half and use a small hook with a light knocker rig

Yes! I had a small split shot about 18 inches up from the hook; which allowed the bait to sink slowly in the water column to the bottom.

Here in Miami most of those little parks have a fence with no fishing signs all around, or homeless drug addicts wandering around. Stay safe!
