How to Carve Realistic Scales with a knife

Спорт

I’m this fantastical video I show you how I like to carve realistic fish scales into a wooden hand carved largemouth bass. This technique is super simple only using two knives and sandpaper. It was inspired by the great bait maker solarbaits here on KZread so make sure to check him out

Very informative. I'll give your great technique a go it looks good. However, don't give up your day job to start singing for a living, but you do carve really well. Thanks.

Hi, pleas tell me how you made the stencil. What is the angle of the stencil? I am working on a lure, it is my first time making one and I am having lots of trouble drawing the scales. I have seen this stencil being used on other chenels but no one tells you how to make it. thankyou

The way I did was I drew some scales on a piece of paper to the size I wanted similar to what you see at 2:58. Then I just used two intersecting lines that would make up a scale and that was the basis of the stencil. If you imagine an X cut in half I pretty much used that to a bigger scale

@@CFOR-finarts It would be nice if you could do a video on how you made it. I have tried to make one but the scales come out crooked. I AM VERY BAD AT DRAWING so trying to draw out fish scales to an even size in order to make the stencil just isn't working. can you give me mesurments of your stencil? Thank you

@@CFOR-finarts So you just free handed the scales on papper? Ho many rowes did you need to draw in order to get the size "V" or degree of angel ,like 30 degree 45 degree 60 degre . you have in your stencil.

Hi I am sorry to write so much. But I have had a rough time lately, I just had neck surgery, only to break my ankel and needing to have another surgery to fix it last week. so I am sitting here trying to learn how to wood carve, making the best of my situation. I made a lure last year, only stopping because I didn't have the skills to carve in the scales. Now I am wanting to finish the project during my recovery and I AM VERY COMMITTED to learning this craft. anything you could do to help would be great. Thank you. Brian F, USN.
