    I was given a gorgeous Gollum Jade in September... it was used to living in a large greenhouse. I watered it the same as the other Jade plant that they gave me but it ended up with what I thought was root rot. I took it out of its pot and didn't I find a big fat worm! I didn't see this worm when I originally reported it. I'm trying to save my poor plant and hope it'll catch up to its beautiful original self. I enjoyed your informative video. 👍

    Thank you so much for your sharing, Sandy. May I ask if that big fat worm caused any damages to your Gollum Jade?

    @Succulents Box I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner... I believe he ate the roots! It took forever, but it is finally rooting and doing well! I think when spring arrives, it'll really grow! It's putting energy into the roots.

    Help! I've had my Gollum Jade tree for over twenty years now. The leaves are starting to fall off and a lot of them are shriveling up. My routine is the same. When this started occurring, I felt it needed more sun, so it's now closer to my southern window to receive more sunlight. I am using regular soil and I do fertilize it a few times a year. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I love this plant and I'm hoping to bring it back to life. Thanks.

    Hi there, Jade leaves can fall off if your plant is too wet, too dry, or if it's not getting enough sunlight. In your case, we notice that your plant is getting enough light, but you should check your soil before watering to ensure that you are not over- or under-watering it. Hope this helps

    Here in Canary Islands (a place near the Sahara desert) Jade plants are found everywhere, in every garden. It seems they tolerate direct sunlight really well, ofcourse they all are full of yellow and red colors. Is it okay to keep them near the window facing North? Because the sun is really strong here and very rarely it gets couldy.. im thinking maybe even north-side will be enough for them? Just took a bunch of them from the gardens, regular-leaf jades and gollums too. Lets see if they will sprout some roots..

    Hi, yeah, indoor Jade plant needs a windowsill to maintain their vibrancy of color, so a window facing North is a good choice. However, if yellow or brown spots appear, move them somewhere with less sun or cover them with a cloth or umbrella to protect them from the intense heat and prevent sunburn.

    What would you recommend for a beginner in zone 5a, it's currently leaving winter and hitting around 15-20 Fahrenheit at night. The only window I have is North facing. Should I set it near the window in the mornings and supplement it with a violet LED?

  • @SucculentsBox

    @SucculentsBox

    2 жыл бұрын

    I understand that zone 5 has very severe temperatures, therefore choosing the correct succulent species that can withstand such cold temperatures is important to success. Maybe this article will be of use to you. succulentsbox.com/blogs/blog/succulents-for-zone-3-4?_pos=2&_sid=098902076&_ss=r As long as you have a sunny windowsill, you're good to go. Furthermore, you'll need to use Red or Blue LED instead of a Violet, as the purple glow can be distracting. Succulents require both red and blue light to grow and blossom, therefore this light will provide them with just what they need.

    i got one of these at the store. my mom painted our window with paint a few years ago so im not able to get any sunlight at all and im not allowed to take the paint off. so i cant grow any plants indoors. i am about to turn 17 so i have no money to buy grow lights. when i wake up i will take my gollum jade out onto a table on the porch. ( i named her mosa ) and take her in by 7-10 once the sun goes down. i watered her once i got home from the store as the soil was 1000% dry. i had a pot very slightly bigger then the nursery pot. so she is in that for now. please tell me if im doing ok im so scared i will mess up. i killed a cactus and another succulent before by overwatering. im trying to wait till its 100% dry and even wait a few days after that to see any signs of needing water

    I think you're doing fine. So how large is your pot? Ideally, the pot should be at least 10% larger in both height and diameter to give the plants enough space to grow. About your watering routine, make sure that only give your plant a good soak of water when the soil is completely dry to the touch. Please let us know if you need any help!

    @@SucculentsBox alright i will! i didnt know if it needed a new pot but i wanted to give a little wiggle room. its not even an inch bigger but just enough to give some wiggle room for the roots. i didnt want to go much bigger but went up slightly incase because i have had only 1 succulent and it died so im very cautious this time

    Just got that that has monstrous leaves. Wondering how to clean it because there's a lot of dust and at the store I saw spider mites that I don't want to spread. The leaves are clumped up like heck. Should I trim?

  • @SucculentsBox

    @SucculentsBox

    2 жыл бұрын

    1. To clean the dust on your succulent, use a soft, lint-free and warmly moist cloth to wipe the leaf from the stem end to the tip. Wipe the leaves a second time with the soap solution in the same direction. Finally, wipe down the foliage a third time with a new cloth and clear water. Then your Jade would be def clean! 2. About the spider mites, rubbing alcohol is the recommended treatment. You are recommended to clean your succulent with rubbing alcohol several times before you’ll finally be rid of these pests. But be patient and careful. Hope this can help you. 😊

    Can this plant withstand high temperatures (above 104 F), afternoon direct sun and rains? I have failed many gollums over past year, don't wish to fail it again this time.. My terrace receives plenty of morning and afternoon sun, there is hardly any spot with indirect light.. Moreover, monsoon rains are about to begin here, in India.

  • @SucculentsBox

    This succulent prefers to get direct morning sunlight in at least 4 hours. The scorching sun in the afternoon can harmfully make them get yellow or brown spots. If your area is hot, you can transfer them somewhere with less sun or covering them with some cloth or umbrella to keep them safe from the intense heat. ^^

    When is the best time for propagation for this plant if u live in hardiness zone 6?

  • @SucculentsBox

    @SucculentsBox

    9 ай бұрын

    Hi. Planting and growing season in zone 6 typically begins around mid-March (after the last frost) and continues through mid-November. So, we recommend these are the ideal time to propagate your plants, but it also depends on which type of your plants since each one will have its specific growing season. Hope this can help! 😉
