CW is Negative and CCW is positive ! Thats what we learned to our teacher.

Actually conventions are decided by us, so it does not affeslct end result. As one will be positive and other will be negative so complete equation will always be balanced. The only thing we must follow is consistancy, whatever convention we fixed in the start must follow throught the question.

Hello, in the question the maximum load at the roller support is given as 100 N, this is nothing but the reaction at E, which is available. It it would not be given, the problem will become statically indeterminant as number of unknown will become 4.

The second example is wrong ,because you have 5 suport reaction and 3 equilibrium equations .Second example is undetermined you can do it like that. i might be wrong .i will be very happy if you explain me .

Dear Saif, What I understood is, horizontal force ka moment kyo nahi liya...actually, usaka line of action point of momont se pass ho raha hai so perpendicular distance zero hoga...if still it is not the answer of your query.. please mention time instance at that you have confusion

The sign does not matter for the way he is doing it, he put all downward forces on one side and upward forces on the other side of the = sign. He did Ay+ Ey= 120N+100N+90N+190sin60 if you were summing all y forces equal to zero then the signs would matter and it would look like such: Ey+Ay-120N-100N-90N-120sin60=0 the you move the negatives to the other side, and you would get the same formula he used, so the signs don't matter. - = + is the same as + = - so you don't need the sign of the forces unless you are setting them equal to zero. As long as you put all upward forces on the same side and all downward forces on the same side.
