    So I have noticed that it does take precision and accurate calculation for your soap ingredients, I will not venture here LOL. I have been watching a lot of persons making soap etc and I really thought to myself pretty easy , but thanks for this video I can see that a lot of work goes into making soap especially the before process.

    The way I measure the amount of soap a silicone loaf mold would hold is to place the mold on the scale, tare it, fill the mold with water and read the weight on the scale.

    That’s a great way to measure total volume and and a lot faster. Thanks for sharing that. It’s the total amount of oils needed that was tricky for me at first.

    Oil is lighter then water so it wouldn't be a correct measurement weighing water to get your oil weight. Also different oils weigh different to each other so it would vary depending on the oils you are using.

    Think you, ? Can you just weigh the silicone mold and get volume ? Bc that's what I did

  • @humblednature9593

    @humblednature9593

    Weighing the mold will simply give you the weight of it but not the volume. You could place the mold on a scale, tare the scale then add a dense substance till it's full e.g water or flour and see how much it weighs and that's your volume

    Your mould holds a total of 111.7oz so to know the amount of oil you need you multiply 0.39*111.7=43.56oz It's almost saying 39% of your total soap weight is oils. That means out of 111.7 total weight, 43.56 of it will be oils But sometimes 0.39 will not be enough to fill up your mould, it's a matter of trial and error. First make a soap that has 0.39*111.7= 43.56oz of oil. If it does fill up the mould then try 0.40*111.7
