That’s exactly like the jet my father chartered to get me home from Israel after I had an operation there back to my destination as all the commercial flights were booked solid for 3 days . And for a million to go on short haul journeys that million doesn’t sound bad at all ! I wonder if the maintenance costs are relative ? The reason I wanted out of Israel is that just after my operation during the night I heard and felt a massive explosion and the whole building shook , I thought it was an earthquake at first but it was a missile gift from Gaza as the hospital was in Ashkelon which is very near the Gaza Strip . It was genuinely frightening so my father and I were so shaken up and tbh scared we just had to go ! I hated the place as well I’ve never been to a country with so many guns on show and so much tension in the air some guests who were Jews from London couldn’t even go for a walk outside the hotel as it was deemed unsafe !

The total annual budget (JUST OPERATING COSTS) for flying a 20 year old Citation CJ1/CJ2 private jet 200 hours per year (4 hours per week) is approximately $691,190 or $57,500 per month for 16 hours of flight time. The maximum speed of the Citation CJ2 is 468 mph, but with slower climb, cruise and descending speeds it is more likely to average 374 mph which would equate to an average cost per mile of approximately $9.23 at 200 hours per year. At those rates a Los Angeles to NewYork round trip of 4,844 miles would take 14 hours and cost $44,710 And the salesman says that is "cheap to operate."

The upkeep on this is over 1200 an hour, and that's just fuel and overhaul/inspection fund. To move that 1000 miles is going to cost about 3k and that's if you're flying it yourself. Nevermind all the other expenses involved. If you wanna fly around, get a pilots license and a single piston. You'll cut that expense down to a quarter, and the only downside is it will take you about twice as long to get there.
