A lot of the idea's here for the collar tie's and how to maintain inside control are remarkably similar to "Swimming" in Muay Thai, good stuff guys!

Thank you for this video. I'm looking for ways I can use this for MMA. I may do a MT plum if I can get inside position with both arms, then use knees to strike if I can push turn him and gain the distance.
This is great stuff to know as a beginner. Thank you so much. Do you do this against the smaller guys too?

Focus on these two moves: Low Single (best suited for competition): kzread.info/dash/bejne/fmGTus6oYtHSYsY.htmlsi=8ouPUabVVRmydw8a Snatch Single (works equally well in competition and self-defense): kzread.info/dash/bejne/gWx9trKJYLqWmag.htmlsi=Gjqh59ShlhB0w6il And here's how to escape his under-hook, most greco guys love an under-hook: kzread.infouc-a0X3lmmU If he's coming forward and bullying you with the hand fight, here's a video where I go a little more in-depth on how to use fakes to keep him at bay: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i3iWy8Sug5DUqLw.htmlsi=Jj2CDN-QuSuoe8ke

Hey Coach, Would you reccomend doing Wrestling or BJJ first for a high school student? Thanks
@WrestlingUniversity
23 күн бұрын
Without a doubt, without hesitation, wrestling first. If you take wrestling seriously at your age - the base, intensity, and foundational movement you'll get from wrestling will be with you to a degree for the rest of your life. It's difficult for even a pro BJJ gym to match the intensity and pace of a high school wrestling room. After graduation, you have the rest of your life to do BJJ. Great question, now go sign up for wrestling lol

@@WrestlingUniversity Thanks so much for the response. I really want to sign up for wrestling, and I today spent a while trying to find a wrestling clubs in my area, however I realised that there aren't really any wrestling schools here. No schools in my area have wrestling clubs. I still want to train Wrestling first, BJJ later and become strong, quick, and explosive. What should I do now?
@WrestlingUniversity

@@DaDanielYT Honestly, watch my videos and find someone to drill the techniques with. If you can't find an in-person school, learning online is the next best thing. Don't give up your search though, there may be a wrestler in your community and you just haven't discovered him yet. Start asking around, you'd be surprised who's out there. What part of the world do you live in?
Its kinda funny how in wrestling it's ok to snap your training partner down pretty hard with a collar tie, but in bjj, doing that in practice feels kinda like a dick move. Unless you already have "an understanding" with specific training partner.

Yeah it's kind of a problem. You get taught some wrestling but no one says "hey if the other guy is bigger you have to play aggressively, because otherwise nothing you do will work"
@WrestlingUniversity
23 күн бұрын
I had this exact problem my very first bjj practice. When we went live I just started snapping people to front head-locks. I was being a little aggressive and my coach pulled me aside and told me to chill out lol just not in every bjj gyms culture. But it's definitely in wrestling culture
This only works with an inexperienced big guy. Anyone with any mixed martial arts experience would never be that passive. BJJ only works on the street with people who have no experience. You start playing those touchy games with an experienced wrestler you wont last long and if its a street fight you are going to eat knuckles, albows, knees and feet. This is a demonstration of a BJJ match against a larger less experienced opponent. This wont work against a larger BJJ opponent with wrestling experience unless you have the same experience and are much better than they are. There is a reason there are weight classes in wrestling and mixed martial arts as well as in kick boxing and boxing. BJJ is a sport with rules of what you can and cannot do. Yes it has self defense usable techniques but a street fight has no rules. and yes that makes a very large difference.

Literally nothing in this video talks about using this in a street fight. The point about weight classes is a good one, but the street fighting stuff is not relevant to the video.
