    Great thing about free standing walls is that once you're done filming on that bathroom set they can be reused for different "rooms" with minimal work.

    Those metal connectors that you used to attach the lumber together are wood to wood rail connectors. According to another video that I have seen, they say to use drywall joint compound between the flats and then sand it smooth for painting.

    In American "English"(sic?) those silver metal supports are called 'angle brackets'.

    okay let´s see.. the lightsetup is a bit complicated xD -the keylight set up (on the very right side) is a 575w HMI Light Bounced in a foamboard and diffused with grid cloth on a frame. this setup is called "booklight" and is a very beautiful key light ! -the red backlight (on the stand on the left side of the frame) is an arri 650w halogen with a red gel infront of it. -the blue side light (center of the frame) is a 110w fluorescent light panel with a blue gel infront of it. -and last but not least we have a 330w fluorescent light panel shining through the window behind the wall. yep that´s it. hope it answered your question :)

    @@PracticalEffectsGuy it would be great if you added the detail how to add the window to the board (or even how to make the window, and explain each part like choosing the glass/wood) , plus how to light it from the other side to simulate the sun/daylight ambient. Been weeks ived been searching a video like this, since we dont have time to search a specific room to rent/use.. Now with your video, i can make my own collapsible set for my studio.. sorry for bad english.. once again, thank you.. u guys deserve more likes and subs tho..

    What are the best spaces a new filmmaker could get access to, to build/use sets? Thanks!

    i would say .. keep an eye out on family and friends. With a bit of luck somebody could offer you some space for some time and little money. Where there is a will, there´s a way!

  • @PracticalEffectsGuy

    @PracticalEffectsGuy

    There´s no formula.. you just have to get creative :) But yeah i´ve seen people doing it with cardboard. Or maybe you could built wooden frames and tighten some kind of fabric on top of it? I would rely on those materials or offers that are available to you and use that then! :) hope that helps!

    It's a very stylised look. If that is what the rest of your film looks like then trying to make a real bathroom work would have broken the look you were going for.
