When you buy enclosures from them, they include everything you need for install, minus the emt if you’re going to source it yourself. So this will include all bungees and zipties needed.

  • @PixelGolf

    @PixelGolf

    Thank you for that! For lefty and right handed players you would need at least 15’ wide for clearance. Check the channel for my latest video of the BenQ LK936ST projector, there is a chapter in there for the 3D Sim Planner tool that lets you input your dimensions and player height and gives you a 3D representation for clearance in your space.

    Terrific video! I’m finally pulling the trigger on a full sim setup. I’ve been using the Mevo+ with a spornia net. Ordered my DIY Carl’s Place enclosure. Not basically going. To be copying a lot of your setup. Couple of questions for you: 1) hitting strip - I’m currently using the CCE mat and it’s causing tendinitis. I’ve already got the gym mats you used and am sourcing turf. But wondering which hitting strip you’d recommend? Your diy divot strip or Carl’s place divot strip or Carl’s Hot Shot mat? Seems like you’re a fan of all of them. Wondering if you have a top pick? 2) Speakers - are you still happy with your JBL surround speakers? Looking at getting the same ones. 3) Laptop - I can get a deal on almost the identical spec laptop your recommend but MSI brand 3080ti 16gb graphics card and rest same. I know you said it works well with GSPro. Wondering what settings you have it on. I keep hearing that 3080ti laptop card is not enough for 4K on gspro. I haven’t used GSPro yet so not sure if it is even worth trying to run on 4K. Sorry for all the questions. I appreciate any guidance you can provide and thanks for the terrific videos! Much appreciated!

My handicap is down slightly from when I first bought my sim from 15 to currently 13, but shit shaping and wedge game is improved greatly. Most of my handicap is due to some ongoing back issues making driving and putting difficult…

  • @PixelGolf

    @PixelGolf

    No, you can hit off center and most software has the ability to adjust the center point in the software for this reason. One thing to consider is, the more off center from the middle of the screen, the more bounce back is added. Think of jumping on a trampoline, the more in the middle, the more give the material has.

    Thank you! I get zero movement from the turf on the mat. It has a really rough texture that makes it grip well and with the hitting insert in place it ties the mat and turf together. @@PixelGolf Great. Also, is there a reason you didn't mount the projector on the bar mount that they have that can attach to the frame? I will be moving my enclosure against the wall when not in use and was trying to decide between the bar vs ceiling mount. With the bar mount attached to the enclosure it would guarantee the same distance/alignment to the screen each time I move it. With a ceiling mount I would have to make sure the enclosure is in the exact spot every time.

  • @PixelGolf

    @PixelGolf

    Since my enclosure is only 33” deep, I’d have to have a really long extension. I move mine out quite a bit for filming and repositioning isn’t difficult at all, just adjust until the image is correct. I would imagine it would be more difficult to adjust the extension holding the projector as I imagine it would move a bit when moving the assembly.

  • @rlbjr

    @rlbjr

    @@PixelGolf Makes sense. I didn't think about the bar moving as mine would only be about 36" deep. It would probably have to extend out another 2 ft depending on the projector used. Sorry, last question. I'm also debating between the Premium and Preferred screen from Carls. I will only be using 1080 and my enclosure will be about 10'W x 8'H. Is the image at that resolution and size really noticeably better on the Premium screen? Thanks.

  • @PixelGolf

    @PixelGolf

    @rlbjr I personally don’t have any experience with the preferred. Based on the thumbnail nail it seems like a thicker woven pattern and more textured, so I would imagine it would affect the image. Its up to you. They both get the job done. For skills assessment & bag mapping go with skytrak+. If you're looking for something closer to trackman with more data, go for bushnell. Just warning you that bushnell will cost around $750 annually because of gold subscription and gspro. By no means does skytrak+ lack in quality compared to bushnell, but the bushnell is a bit more robust. I went with skytrak+ because I couldn't justify paying 1k more upfront along with $500 more annually for less lag and angle of attack. Hope this helped.

  • @PixelGolf

    @PixelGolf

    5 ай бұрын

    Thank you Kevin! I have yet to try the Skytrak+ unfortunately, but I can speak for the LaunchPro/GC3. I really believe that the LaunchPro has everything 99% of people need and the Foresight fitting software and technology is awesome, which is why you see it used for club testing by a lot of the big names. In conjunction with GSPro software it truly is an exceptional way to go, but the Annual membership may be a deal breaker for some. My advice would be to get a GC3 if you have the budget, or get the LaunchPro and maybe after the first year you can make the decision to unlock it a drop the annual fee. I’ve seen the unlocked option go on sale a few times too.

    I don't have a permanent place for a sim. Your enclosure - Do you think it is feasible to use 2 or 3 furniture dollies to be able to roll the enclosure maybe 10 to 15-ft out of the way when not in use? (I know this is a pretty unusual question for this).

  • @PixelGolf

    @PixelGolf

    Not unusual at all! I can easily roll my turf up, remove the gym mat and slide my whole enclosure out of the way. I’ve done it a few times actually.

    I got it locally. Honestly, the best way to save some money is to Google Maps “putting green turf” or “artificial turf” in your area. There is typically a few suppliers and you just want a putting green turf that rolls the ball true. They usually have some demo areas at their building. Ask for end of roll pieces, you might save even more!

    I know you built your own hitting strip, but I feel like I am missing something... Most of the hitting strips you buy seem to be 1.75 inches in heght, if my floor consist of 1" foam tiles and putting turf, wouldn't my mat be sticking up approx. 3/4" ? Yours looked pretty flush. Thanks for this video it has me wanting to redo my area.

  • @PixelGolf

    @PixelGolf

    Yes, I built my own so I can get the depth right and make it the exact size I wanted. With the 1” gym mat and putting turf you end up roughly around 1.5” and most strips would stick up about 1/4”. You could add some kind of uderlayment to raise the surface up higher to accommodate for this or build your own so you can set the exact height. I also liked building my own as it allowed me to add a real tee where other divot hitting insert don’t have this. We have a video on the channel if you’re interested in building one.

    10’ will be tight but you can make it work. You’ll likely have to hit offset from center, but pretty much all of the sim softwares have this correction,

    Really depends how on the setup. My original setup: Mevo+, GT1090HDR projector and basic gaming laptop was under 5k with everything. Really, the screen and turf will cost you around 2k, the other cost are dependent on what you want. If you have a budget to work with, give us a call. Happy to help!

    She’s a keeper! Most people are too concerned with having a formal sitting room that no one uses… That’s not how we roll😂 A home should be an extension of yourself and what you enjoy, not a canvas to conform to the norm. My wife’s also grown quite attached to it over the years, if I tried to take it down she would likely kill me🤣

    Can you have your wife call my wife and convince her to let me do this?...🤣 I have a formal dining room right off the front door, like your space, that gets used once a year for Christmas...We'd get so much more use out of it as a SIM with a projector for other things.

  • @PixelGolf

    Haha, I hear you! This room is kind of a bonus room that has been many things over the years, all of which led to it never being used, until the sim. Now we get a ton of use out of the space and if I ever needed the space it all comes down in under 30 minutes. But, when guest are here, it’s definitely an entertainment area that everyone gravitates towards!

    Why is a $400 projector not good enough? Why is it important to spend $2K?

  • @PixelGolf

    @PixelGolf

    4 ай бұрын

    If you can make a $400 projector work for your setup, there is definitely nothing wrong with that and you should first and foremost stay in the budget you’re comfortable with. Typically, more affordable projectors have less brightness that make it difficult since you’ll need ambient light in order for the launch monitor to clearly see the ball and with less brightness from the projector you’ll have to use less ambient light to see the image. In addition, most affordable projectors don’t have a short throw ration making them have to mount further back from the screen to fill the image and typically will cast a shadow from the person hitting. There are however some great affordable options out there and you don’t need to overspend if it’s not a good financial option for you.
