That's a great point about ease of construction using off-the-shelf materials of standardized dimensions as opposed to materials gathered on site. It'd require a much higher skill level & a lot more time (& trial & error!) to build a solid, durable structure of hand hewn lumber &/or stone so it might well be worth the effort & expense of bringing in materials even to remote, off-road sites like yours.

Know the lake well, would love to stop and say hello next year!!

Hi, all props for the build. I am trying to build up passed North Bay but having an issue dont know how to go about footings. Want to do post and beam (garage + living space above, 40x28) but lot of rock to put 4ft sonotube and its not solid bed rock like your build. Any input would be highly appreciated.

I'm curious how long it took you to find your property between when you seriously started looking to when you decided to make an offer. In other videos, you mention working with the local government for building permits. Did they provide you with much assistance or was that just a matter of going through hoops?

We spent about 6-8 months looking. We had given up for the year when this property became available in November. The local municipality was very easy to work with. They dont provide any assistance really but they didn't get in the way very much!
