How to build Necromunda Zone Mortalis Terrain - Semi-modular setup with limited kits

Games Workshop kits used:
- Dark Uprising
- Zone Mortalis: Columns & Walls
- Zone Mortalis: Platforms & Stairs (optional)
- Zone Mortalis: Floor Tile Set
- Munitorum: Armoured Containers (optional)
The two optional kits can be skipped if you want to do some savings. There is enough from the Dark Uprising and Columns & walls kit to make this setup I have in this video (minus the containers of course, which were hard to fit with certain setups).

    A big thank you to the person who requested this video. It's really amazing the variety you can come up with using an amount of terrain that I can slowly get over time. I'll still struggle with gluing stuff to the tiles though!

    Greetings, First of all please allow me to thank you for a great video (the follow-up which I just watched is also great). Might I ask if you would consider at some point in the future doing a video about a 4x4 setup along the logic of this one please? It could take the form of referring to this one and saying you need x,y,z number of this or that combination which I did there and then there are also these additional combos here. In any case thank you for a great video.

    5:19 I highly suggest sprue goo if you need some extra stability. It can really help make some incredible strong bonds. I use a super thin version for adhering terrain together and a thicker version for gap filling.

    Another amazing video Leo, thanks for sharing your process. I'm actually on the fence at the moment to order two DU box sets and putting the extra gangs on ebay (since that way it'd cost me less to get hold of the terrain), but buying two DU box sets is quite the investment up front. Looking forward to see the pros and cons in your next video, I was thinking of going glued together (with maybe some loose parts as you showed), since rotating the tiles should prove to be modular enough. Also worried that push fitting painted parts onto eachother will lead to chipped paint.

  • @MrLeonarddime

    Yes, 2 DU boxes are quite the investment upfront. But in general so is getting any gaming table as it requires a lot. If you have any questions you want me to cover in the upcoming video please let me know. I'll see if I can cover that question for you.

    Thanks for these very helpful videos Leo. Just wondering what your storage is like for all these. I’ve currently got 2 DU sets of terrain in pieces in the DU box as I’m concerned about having the ore made tile set ups taking up too much room. Cheers

  • @MrLeonarddime

    @MrLeonarddime

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks. To answer your question regarding storage. Well I do have dedicated hobby room and a storage room next to this hobby room. So I have a lot of space to store terrain and pretty much anything I can muster regarding our hobby. So it’s not a practical answer as I do know most don’t have a storage room that can be used only for hobby or large enough to have hobby and family stuff. Having them modular though as this set helps. If you don’t glue the walls to the tile you can save a lot of space. Keeping the tiles separate, walls in one box and all the objects in another. I think I’ll make a video of that. So you can see how much space can be saved. Thanks for asking.

    I've been pondering what to do with my Necromunda terrain for a while. I have all the kits named here among others. I think I may just recreate what you suggest here as a starting point and then expand from there. in the example set-ups you showed one of the columns still had its top unglued so you could reverse it. Is that the same with the other columns that retain their original toppers? Thank you for an awesome instructional video, I've been really enjoying watching all of your content. Take care :)

  • @MrLeonarddime

    @MrLeonarddime

    95% of the times they fit nicely. But there are times as you describe, when they don't fit perfectly. This runs down to the batch when it was produced and the environment that has affected the plastic. I have noticed in my last project that I had one tile that was with a very different grey plastic color. This odd tile was slightly to small. Barely noticable on its own, but when adding walls and columns I could definitely notice it was a bit of a struggle. So it happens that some pieces might not fit perfectly.
