HOW TO Assemble Modular Necromunda Zone Mortalis Platforms!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
The Zone Mortalis Platforms for Necromunda terrain and other games (Stargrave, Space Hulk, Warhammer 40k, Kill Team) are little plastic squares that go together on top of your Zone Mortalis Columns and Walls. But how on earth are they supposed to work without falling off?
We take a look at how to put them together for maximum modularity and semi-modularity, the pros and cons and work out what shapes will work best to create a different kind of tabletop every time you play.

I have been printing a similar set of terrain, and the work you did to determine the best shapes has been an amazing help for me. Thank you very much.

The perils of too much Tetris as a kid!!
This is good. Thank you. I have my first box of columns and tiles and was a bit perplexed and didnt want to commit to a particular build, but this makes much more sense.

I know the feeling. Gluing something and then changing my mind later was a road i didn’t want to go down either. 👍🏼
combine this with the previous walls and columns video....I am so fired up to do this whole setup! GREAT IDEAS!!

Yeah, if you combine all the vids you can literally almost build anything.
This is great! I have a bunch of those platforms with tabs lying around, gluing two together to make alternative bridges is awesome, I like how they can also be used to widen other platforms too! Thanks for the info.

Yeah it’s always best to just start and learn as you go but I figured everything I’d failed at and fixed would help others! Enjoy building your table! 👍🏼
Any plans to talk about either the gang stronghold or the underhive market? The market looks great but is a real pain in the arse to use in game.

Gang stronghold, not sure yet as it’s not exactly very Modular. The market however, yes, the next terrain video should be about that one.

@@thestateofplay2023 Great thanks, looking forward to it.
Just going through your videos as i build more of my hive, have you looked at Wylochs modular platforms he created using chipboard? (Not sure if it has the same name in the uk). Ive picked up some pink styrofoam for my walls and figured his modular chipboard platforms may save a pretty penny as well.

Yea, they’d work to a point but wouldn’t link or connect directly with the GW kits. 👍🏼
Love it. I'm copying some of the shapes as I had a few left over squares which I'll make into some of these. Thanks for the video.

Clever! Its one of the reasons i didn't jump in on this terrain, i could just tell I'd get stuck in an analysis paralysis loop😂
Simply one of the smartest and most informative video on building Necromunda boards I have come across! I was stuck scratching my head trying to figure out the best way to get a sturdy setup whilst preserving some level modularity - analysis paralysis, I was really unsure which way to go. Thanks for this great video (and series, the other are really good too). I also really dig your paint job, very inspiring - out of curiosity how did you do it?

Thanks! Good timing. The next video is all about the paint job. Just gotta stop the edit software crashing!!

I just watched a French guy that magnetised them…I’ve just glued mine and I’ve kinda fucked it 😅 but I’m gonna get another box real soon anyway. Magnetising the tiles just seems like too much effort for me and besides I live in a single room with a cat it’s a no go as she’s dead if she eats them

@@comewatchmediealot yeah, tiny magnets around kids or animals is a no go. Plus, who wants to drill all those perfectly spaced little holes! 🤣
Will, what's a good number of these to have o/h for a planned 4' x 4' table? 2 of each? 4 of each? More? Anyway, THANKS for doing all these videos: I'm miles ahead in construction than I would be otherwise!

If money isn’t an issue I’d go 4 boxes. That way you can build enough platforms and be able to make all the stair option you might need. You can stretch 3 boxes but may run out of platforms before stairs.
I don’t suppose you have a handy parts list I can get to copy this do you? I’ve got boxes and boxes to build and keep putting it off.

I don’t sadly. Part way through the video there’s a shot showing all the parts together. If you screengrab it, that should help.
