HOW TO BUILD FUZZ PEDALS

Музыка

I thought it would be useful for a few people who are new to DIY pedal building to see a full build on veroboard to get a grasp on the process of following these vero layouts that you can find easily online.
Apologies for the general untidiness of the build, Camera pressure is real folks! Would highly recommend taking your time to get things layed out neatly as it can make trouble shooting heaps easier if your pedal isn't working.
Big Thanks to @jamsspfilm for filming this entire thing and editing it down into a more digestible form!

I've been building on strip/vero for about 4 years now and it has been the single most confounding and at the same time, patience building endeavor I have ever undertaken. Thank you for making this video, from the depths of my slightly lead-poisoned heart.

haha yeah it can be super frustrating but I think the troubleshooting side is really important for learning

Really glad to see this. More vids on DYI circuit builds and basics lowers the barrier to entry and leads to more builders. More builders means more freaks and more freaks means weirder circuits.

Huh. Literally spent yesterday researching how to build a reverb pedal (including a bunch of HIA videos) and now this drops. A+ mind reading.

@@HOLYISLANDAUDIO alright cool, I have some basic supplies at home but no Audio jacks 9v adapters or enclosures, which would you suggest the most? I'm playing on Probably going to make the basic 5 item bass fuzz with a volume as my first build!

Great build! Don't know how I got here, but I also build guitar effect pedals, amps and a lot of other stuff for about 20 years now. Still on my small bench in my room, as you also do. I also really like the small test setup :) I think the toggle switch makes such a huge difference, I wouldn't hesitate to take it out and throw in a 2PDT footswitch.

Funny that you keep your iron to the left while being right handed. Because I keep my iron to the right while I'm left handed. For me, it seems like it makes the cable more manageable and the cross-over reach feels more natural. I compare it to a hi-hat and snare on a drum set. Many people play the hat with their dominant yet mount it on their non-dominant side. It's also likely that top/down reach is best done across the torso while level to under reach is best done directly. Surely, I'm wrong and overthinking it but I've spent some of my career laying out ergonomic workstations and found this rationale has been most successful.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Always feels really strange when I'm working at workstations that aren't my own and the irons on the 'correct' side 😅

Veroboard is the biggest PITA as a citcuitboard due to the amount of variables that can go wrong but its a right of passage!

Could you shove multiple effects into on box, I have a dream of making my own pedal when it’s just delay>reverb>overdrive>fuzz>chorus; just taking my pedal board shoving it into one brick. The toggle would only be to engage and disengage the fuzz with all else staying the same.

of course. You’d have to find a pretty big enclosure mind!

How did you mount the board in the enclosure to stop it wobbling around? Looks like it might be stuck on with a bunch of electrical or double sided tape? Been planning on doing my first full stripboard build as a Destructo noctavia for ages now and this helpful vid might be the kick up the ass I needed! Mounting the board to the enclosure is the main thing I'm still not sure on how best to do...

I just pop electrical tape on the back of the board and the wire gives it enough tension to stay in place
