How to build confidence and trust with ANY DOG 🔹 Rottweiler Training

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

http//:www.pakmasters.com, Professional dog trainer Larry Krohn shows how he starts training with a big powerful and beautiful Rottweiler. This Rottweiler is not so trusting of Larry at first but you will see how building that trust and bond is important before any training starts.

Larry - I started watching your videos when I got my first dog a year and a half ago, a nine year old Malinois. My dog inspired me and ignited my passion for dog training and led me to enroll in an apprenticeship to become a professional dog trainer. I used to watch yours and other trainers' videos before I started being a trainer. One of the first things my mentors told me is that online/video trainers don't show a lot of what goes into dog training and are generally not good trainers because "if you have time to make and edit videos you're not busy enough as a trainer, and there is more to dog training than what can be shown in a video." I still have a lot to learn, but a year later, knowing more than I did before, I went back and watched some of the trainers I used to watch to see everything they do with more knowledgeable eyes - sure enough, some of them turned out to be ineffective trainers with questionable methods, making things up about "what the dog is thinking" and working with dogs that are actually fairly low on the aggression scale and billing them as "extreme cases." However, you have been the only trainer whose videos I still watch, because your content isn't designed to push a paid online course, you don't make cuts to hide things in your videos, you show what you're doing, use new dogs instead of already finished dogs, and you focus on behavior as primary over obedience and emphasize the importance of relationship, and you don't bullshit. While there are some things I would do differently in this video based on what I've learned (time savers like flipping the place board over and having the dog walk over it and sit on it and reward a lot before flipping it back upright, which we've found to work quickly and effectively) you are an honest trainer, your methods work, and nothing you've done can be characterized as "wrong." Thank you for being a valuable source for dog owners and trainers. It's easy for someone to look like they know what they're doing and make a quick buck selling online courses when their target audience are people who don't know what they're looking at, but that's not you. You're a good dude who clearly works from the heart and there are a lot of things I learned from you, and I will continue to follow you.

YES!!!! YOU ARE SO RIGHT ON THE MARK!!! I took my German Shepherd to a local agility training center that uses positive training such as this. It's the same method. Other dogs did the same thing as this one did. Mine was hesitant at first as well but caught on real quick. Some other dogs went thru the same thing you showed by louring the dog away before retrying. I sat up a plat form in my yard and did my Rottie the same way about 9 years ago. She did the same thing as this one. Getting the dogs to think for themselves builds confidence, trust and obedience. It forms a stronger bond. It makes further training easier. For your viewers, THIS STUFF WORKS BEST!!! The dog touching his leg and instant reward this is a big key in learning with instant positive reward. Body blocking in the beginning is another big yes with a reward and praise, Getting down low can play a big roll as well like he did with the golf cart. Jackpot treats was perfect every time. Praising the dog at the right time. Show love and affection like you did after each lesson... Outstanding!!! LOVE THE VIDEO!!! I think this dog just lost it's original owner. I can see this dog is going to be hard to give back. The hard part of this training is probably training the owner. :).

Most of those are rescues with all kinds of issues. Beautiful to watch. So many dog trainers only show the serious stuff.

Hey Larry, Totally agree with you about the Rottweiler breed! Met my first one 50 years ago, when I was 5 years old; there were only 200 registered in the U.S.! They are awesome. Glad to see a lot of people are becoming aware of e collar training. Hard to believe so many people thinks prongs and e collars are abusive, but they are so much better than the old yank and crank on a choke chain! I've had dogs all my life, and I currently have a rescued Husky. I have only used a prong collar and e collar. She is a sweet dog and great with other dogs and people. Keep up the great work!

coachrr theres nothing wrong with a choke chain either my parents had a bull mastiff that was ruined by a so called humane e-collar you will not catch me using one ever . my last dog was a boxer/Rottweiler/pit bull mix and she also responded very well to a choke chain but due to her hyper nature i changed a show leash it was so easy to put on to get her out the door for walks

I’ve owned and loved rotties since I got my first female at age 12. For the past 25 yrs or more I’ve been specific to the males. I adore this breed. They are so smart and loving and eager to please it’s crazy. I raised my 3 kids with them and now my 6 grandkids. I have a young male named Roman, 11 months old and I’ve just introduced the e-collar. Best breed on the planet

I get so confused with watching all these kind of different trainers and training stuff videos online, especially as an owner of small scent-hound mix which sniffs like terminator and I try so hard to get his attention to the point where I burned out, but the thing is - I like training in general and I wanna learn as much as possible how training works. This one is pure gold. That lovely moments like when the dog gets into place all by himself and the joy that Larry shares with him. Amazing understanding of the dog.

i AGREE with you , that you said about walk next to you naturally cause the trust. I have alot of dogs who lived outside some of them lived in the street and after 2 days they walked next to me with lease like i have trained them for 3 years. BUT i think thats happens cause. 1. the dogs who have already lived outside in the street they have seen everything they have smell and socialised with everything so you are something special for them and they want to be with you. This is a big difference from your dog which you have him from his first months and its stays most of the time inside the house so when its time to go outside he wants to go out and have fun and dont care about you, also maybe you havenot socialise well and some smells or sights are so interest for the dog so you need to train the dog to pay attention toy you, cause thats the key, attention and trust.

Hey, just wanted to ask if you have any tips as my dog doesnt get on with other dogs i think its more scared than aggression as there was one (but only one) dog he used to get on with. Hes also not good being on his own. You really are amazing with the dogs. ive watched a few of your videos now, Very impressed.

I'm watching some of your older videos looking for some key things on building confidence in fearful dogs, specifically with your more "scary dogs". I'm working with a pitbull right now who is absolutely scared of everything. Even going out or inside a different way. He is with me for dog aggression(one time issue) environmental factors for sure played a part. I've had countless trainers tell me I shouldn't get down to their level with a dog like this as they will be more inclined to come after me. I see you do it all the time, so now I question which way is the better way.

Hi Larry. I really enjoy your videos. I have a blue tic - plot walker hound. I’ve been trying to get him to walk with a loose leash with some of the tips from your videos. Unfortunately I have been unsuccessful. He is my first dog so I think the problem lays with me and not him. But on the other hand he is a hound and he walks nose down and is constantly pulling on the leash. I recently bought a halti and have seen a little improvement. Any advice or reply to this comment would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Deborah Nitschke I know this was a long time ago but... yes! I agree! The trainer is amazing and Rottweilers are beautiful and sweet beings. I also wanted to add to your comment for everyone out there(though many know this): please, please do your research before you get a dog! Not just adorable big rotties, but ANY dog. Big/large, medium, small, and teacup( especially! ). DO NOT RUSH THROUGH THIS!

What advice would you give me for my nervous fearful border collie who is scared of bangs and gunshot. It spoils many of our walks and if off lead he will often bolt if spooked.
