Window tint isn't rated on how much light it blocks, but how much it allows to shine through. 50% is a lighter shade vs 35%. The darker the film, the lower the number.

Hey Nate, next time use the blue or pink insulation foam board you find at Home Depot/Lowe's/Menards. Might take slightly longer to hotwire cute, but it's much more sturdy. Also painting it, use Drylok masonry paint with Quikrete dye for color. These are standard go-to materials when building something like a Vivarium or enclosure for reptiles.

Nice build, but I have some constructive notes. 1) Before cutting the hold slots for the mirror and glass, you can really change the reflection angle by adjusting both the position and angle of the two. 2) As I mentioned in a previous message, don't use Styrofoam for the squeegee. A credit/debit card works just as well and doesn't make the mess or noise. 3) If you're going to put that much work into the outer, it'd be good to invest that much on the paint too. 4) You can also use a pen to make stone grooves and other details. A pen head is nice too as it's smaller and allows for more detailed work. 5) Use a balled up wad of tin foil to go in and press down on the surface of the stone. This will give the surface some nice texture to it. 6) I recommend doing a "flat black" paint job first to add a nice dark coat underneath. Since it's Styrofoam, it should be painted on and not spray painted (unless you seal your Styrofoam) as most spray paint will cause your foam to "melt". 7) For painting, I highly recommend checking out Black Magic Craft's KZread channel. He does a lot of work with Styrofoam and has some great easy and affordable tips on how to paint them. 8) Once painting is all done, blackwash it to make everything really pop. It's easier to do, cheaper, and is something more people will have access to versus an air brush. 9) It would be worth detailing and painting both sides of the Styrofoam where it will be visible. The end product looks nice, but the plain white Styrofoam can be seen in the reflection of the mirror. Putting in the time there will make sure that you'll have an amazing looking project at the end. Again, great job and thanks for sharing this! I've been meaning to make one for my desk with a usb plug in light that will plug right in to my monitor.

Funny you should mention this. A coworker left a really funny message on my office whiteboard last week in the shape of the fight club movie logo / soap. A little bit of work and I replicated the fight club logo in photoshop using what he put on the soap (In place of "FIGHT CLUB") and printed, transferred on foam, then covered with proto putty. A few days later he found some bars of soap in his office....
