Good things to know:
- #8 screws can hold 80-100 lbs each
- A single vertical 2×4 can hold around 1000 pounds
- Make sure to level the stand before adding aquarium, with a 4’ level and shims.

Nice concept, although for 75g support should go all the wat to the floor from top down. 2x4s standing up would be alot stronger as well. I could sleep at night wondering if or when. 🤙🏿

A quick InterWeb search reveals that drywall screws are brittle and their shafts are thin because they are made to hold drywall to studs, and not made to fasten lumber together to be load bearing. I have snapped off the heads of drywall screws just using them to install drywall, so there’s that. Deck screws are designed to just hold deck boards down. My opinion is that construction wood screws would be a much better fastener choice for an aquarium stand, especially one that’s going to be filled with water, which would make it much much heavier than one used for reptiles.

I am wondering if the middle needs another leg for support, with the 2x4s flat and not on their edges. How is the stand doing after one year?

@pittsburghpets3759 I "borrowed" your design and just built a 49L x 13W x 30H for my 55-gallon snake tank. It's not as good as yours, Its got some gaps, and it's a little wobbly, and had to be shimmed.
