Interesting. I want to make one myself..But I wish there was a video showing you how to actually make a battery pack. I have searched 100s of videos and they are all the same. Add the batteries, add the BMS board and it's done!!! Which wire goes where? On the BMS what is P+ P- Exactly where and why? What is the tape you use? If this video was an hour long and it took you step by step for dummies. I would watch the whole thing.! 🙂

Awesome video, thanks for taking the time to share. A little constructive criticism. I would recommend a soldering iron with a little heavier tip. I also like to hit those larger joints with a flux pen to get a better solder flow. Your + and - connections looked maybe a little cold to me.

I would use 3.7v 18650 or 3.2v lifepo4 myself. 1.2v cells are generally not for any type of high power usage they are used mostly for small solar lights etc. 1.2v is a usually a AA battery cell if memory serves.

Thank you once again for the video. Some time back I requested a few info from you. Perhaps amidst the busy schedule you’d have overlooked, which is understandable. Here are the requests once again, kindly respond. 1) Do you sell PURE (99.6%) Nickel strips for 2P design through your AMAZON store? If so, please point to that link. If not please recommend a HONEST Vender who sells the same. 2) The Spot welding on those batteries look so perfect. I’m sure that welding machine must be a SUNKKO. What model is that and do you sell the same model, through your AMAZON store? FYI I use SUNKKO 788H that is so useless, that the welded Ni strip can be peeled off very easily. Any help from your side will be highly appreciated. Thanks and regards. Sree...

Hello Wes That Tech Guy, I made my first 3s batterypack few days ago. Using 3 x 4 = 12 cells. I did not solder or weld them. I used the spring loaded 3 cell plastic containers, and glued them back to back opposite directions. No cell touches eachother. But from the top and bottom I attached lot of wires, positives, negatives, and balance wires that goes together to the BMS at one end. Then I ducktaped the whole thing. I am using it to run powerful 100watt LEDs on my bike. Is it safe so far?

  • @seanmikhaels

Mark Cooper Agree, there could be tons of improvements, but i think its a good start. That particular BMS has a high current shut off i believe, and short circuit protection built in, but always wouldn’t hurt to be 100% safe and add some fuses to protect each cell from blowing up.

  • @Nitrxgen

    @Nitrxgen

    5 жыл бұрын

Well... that BMS is designed for 3S and he does actually connect it the way it's intended, for the most part, with 4 nickel strips connecting to each end set of parallels. You can't really balance each cell per parallel because... they're parallel, they're connected to each other. The length of each strip may impact how balanced it is over time but those nickel strips should be pretty good while I reckon. I'm not a fan of this particular video but I dunno if I can fault him that much. I would've done a better job attaching the BMS and output cables though. I would've gotten a less cheap BMS perhaps with the wires already attached.

  • @hansturpyn5455

I have only 1 minor thing I'd add. If it was me, I'd carefully scratch off some solder mask around the power input pads on the BMS board. That way you could add more solder, get a better solder joint, and maybe even use a heavier gauge wire.

Thanks Nos! Yes you can or you could just make 1 100ah battery pack and then need only 1 BMS.

Spot welders are cheap on *Bay-- or you can make your own. I would not solder to cells-- too easy to damage them (danger!). See: www.keenlab.de/index.php/product/kweld-complete-kit/

thanks. NO not with BMS. You could still do this but not needed at all. If you were using as a power wall and not going to be home to monitor than yes the fuses would help.

Thanks! I don't have one now per say but if you follow this build video and just do 10s its exactly the same. Just keep adding groups of cells so you have a 10s4-5p depending on the mah of the cells you use.

I enjoyed that video, thanks. Now what charger would you use to charge that pack ? If using it in conjunction with solar panels would you just use you’re typical 12v solar controller and allow the BMS to manage the input from that ? Cheers

Yes you could use a regular solar charger as long as its programmable and you can program to 12.6v charge output. There are many inexpensive programmable solar charge controllers on the market today.

Wes, i want to build a 3s 5p battery for running my vexilar ice fishing sonar and some led lites. With saftey as a primary concern i am wondering can i use only a 3s balance harness instead of the bms? I plan on charging the pack with a imax b6 lipro balance charger. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Great video.

Yes no problem as long as you monitor it when it's charging and discharging etc. BMS is used for redundant safety. You're welcome and Thanks.

Hello, I made the same, now I would like to know which charger to use, what voltage or if it can be charged with any 12v adapter since the bms will detect when the battery already has 12.6v of its maximum capacity and then it will cut the charge flow to protect Battery
