In this video I make a wooden windmill tower from cedar. The windmill stands at 6 1/2 feet tall without the metal prop on top, and around 8' 3" with the prop. I made the entire base from material that can be purchased from the big box store.

I find the older my parents get, the more joy I get out of making them happy. Easy to tell you feel the same. Like you, I am lucky to still have them both.
Its so nice to see a daughter so helpful, patient and loving to their parents.
That's awesome, April! Was great to see you working and dancing with your mom. Life is definitely too short.
Making parents proud is the goal of every child, Great work April
This is a nice video, old one, but really good, what do like the most is to see how much proud your mom is of you, and how much she enjoy working with you . You are lovely and she is even more!
What an awesome mother you have, the pride for her daughter just beams. Her enthusiasm to learn. I could not stop smiling, love the video thanks!

: ) Thank you. Yeah we were both having a great time.
Love the intro, April. Also hilarious to see your mannerisms in your mom. Great family project, which turned out awesome.
April, I could tell your Mom was so proud of you. It really warmed her heart to be part of this fun project. Keep up the good work and enjoy these precious moments.
I think this is great. Wish my Mom and Dad were still alive and at an age where we could do projects together. Cherish and love these moment. I am 68 years old and still get inspired to build things from your videos. Think this one might look good in the 50 ft dog bone raised bed I made this last spring. Dave
You did a great job on that, April. I'm sure your parents are thrilled that you took up woodworking/building/all-around creating anything you want. That had to be so much fun working with your mom like that...for both of you. Thanks for sharing that with us.
was great to see your mum getting so into it helping you build, its so great to be able to spend time like that with your loved ones. Love your video's.
Your mum is sweet, makes me miss mine... your family seem lovely and just to see their smiles as you work together, laughing and joking and dancing it's amazing.
April: Thank you for posting this video and for the free plans. I completed my windmill frame yesterday using leftover pressure treated lumber from other projects. Since I built it by myself I made a jig out of scrap pieces, laid on the ground with holes, to hold the legs in place during the construction. It looks great and now the wife wants it painted! Thanks again.
Great timing April, I was close to retiring my old decorative windmill in the back yard, failing metal leg. I never gave a thought to building a wood tower. Another thumbs up for April. Thank you.
Great project as always, but better yet teaching your mother about woodworking is priceless! And I've noticed another videos you do the same thing with your father! And taking the time to dance with your mom, wonderful! Thanks for putting your all into this video!
I jus recently made a gymnastics high bar for my daughter and posted some pictures and video of her using it, my sister said since you made that so well I need wedding table numbers made.. LOL... woodworkers never stop..
That was so fun to watch! You are so sweet to you parents. My wife, children and myself love your videos. Looks like I am going to be building that dog and cat food dispenser. God bless and keep up the great work!!
like this a lot for being something simple... glad to see your mom helping.. life is short have to enjoy moment's like this..
So awesome to see you and your mom working together. Thanks for this video!
beautiful work April, and the mothers love at the end.....PRICELESS
Quality time spent with family, and a nice show-piece to remember it!
Thanks April for this video I was going to purchase one for $300 . But you just inspired me to build one with my son and wife . Thanks great parents
Liked the green Jigsaw already in the videos before, but nice your Mom joined the club of "Jigsaw Masters". Great to see you with a mobile saw stop to protect you... and for sure a lovely wind mill :-)
Nice project. It looks really good, April. I like the look on your Mom's face after making the cut with the jigsaw. Priceless!
I always watch but never comment... I just had to say that your family is awesome! Your mom is hilarious tossing the wood around as it came off the table saw. Just awesome!
Nice job! You owed your Mom a project after the build you did with your Dad, and she looks pretty darn happy with it (who wouldn't be??) Nothing like building things for family to make our hobby worthwhile!!!
Of all the things I have learned in life, one of the most important is when the opportunity is given, always dance with your parents or your children. Love the video, love the windmill, love that momma was learning and helping....and she seemed excited for that jigsaw! LOL
I loved the Mother Daughter project April. Your mom is very handy with a jigsaw and the windmill looks great in the Texas colours keep up the good work. Darren
Great Job Miss April !!!!!!!! it looks like Mom had a lot of fun working with you. Also I did not pick up much of this on your video, please tell us how much you love you "Super Jaws". Have a great day and keep up the great work.
April, two years ago I repaired our windmill of the exact design. My repair was to prime and paint the blades and vane. Our choice of pattern does differ just slightly, where the inner hub and about 1.5" from the hub I painted a bright blue, then white, and finally the tips were red like yours. The vane was done with a couple red and white stripes and like you, I added a field of the blue with half a dozen, or more, white stars. Thanks for posting the instructions as I am sure that in a couple more years, I will need to replace the metal framework of the windmill's tower. As always, gear video!
Great family project April!! Looks like it was a lot of fun. Thanks!!
the look on you're mom's face after that first cut was pure joy - priceless! great video!
Awesome video April. Love to see your family too.
Awesome job April and mom. I really glad that you and your mom are so close. I was just as close to my mom also. Keep up the great work Roy
Not sure how I missed this video before. I think this will be my next project. Do you ever go back and watch your old videos and say why did I do it that way? Keep posting videos because we love them.
Seeing you dance with your mom, makes me miss mine. She is missed. 🙁🙁🙁

We have a 20+ year old version of this in our back yard that is in disrepair. I've been planning on building a new one with the original blades & fin and now I know what I need to do, thanks for the great video.
Cool project, it came out great!
Nice build! My son and i built a wooden windmill 12” tall for “show and tell” when he was in 5th grade. It never came back home!!
You have an Awesome Fun Family 😃👍 , Nice Work , As Always
That looks fantastic April, hope you do many more outdoor builds whilst the weather is fine

BTW, loved the tutorial! love the piece!
April this is a great video. I wish I had seen it sooner.I needed something to keep people from running over the upper part of my well that sticks up in the yard. In the last 6 years it has been run over 4 times, once my wife ran over it wirh my zero turn mower . I,m still scrtaching my head over that. I finally bought a all metal unit at TSC and installed but I like yours a lot better.
Sooo nice to see you get Mom involved and especially you two working together! Happy Mom happy home! I guessing Mom wants her own drill and jig saw now (or even better have you come by to help - haha)
Love it!!!!!! ❤️ And y'all have the exact same laugh. It's adorable
I love the interaction with your Mom!!! Oh and good job too!
Looks great April.
Love all your builds, thanks for the inspiration.

Great video, and great to get your mom into it - pretty soon she'll have her own channel - and I really like the old Chev truck. Up here in the Frozen North (Ontario Canada) those all rusted away years ago!
Lindo projeto !!!!! Um abraço do Brasil !!!!!

Nice job April, I am from Brazil and I watch all your vídeos and all weekends I hope new vídeos, congratulations
I really enjoyed this , your momma is so adorable !
That turned out great, and y'all pretty good at cuttin the rug.
Came out great, I just made a windmill base a week or so ago for my wife, it's smaller but fits our yard well, I used a 10 dollar windmill from harborfreight it's used to scare moles but works well as a deco.

Oh awesome, I didn't realize HF sold the props.
Great effort!!! I am making my mom one.,seems like it needs to be a lot stronger than what you built. I also live in Texas.. That thing will blow right over.

It never has although we have small stakes on each leg to give it a bit more stability. In Central Texas we haven't as much wind as down on the Coast. I'm sure your Mom will love it as mine still does. Thanks for watching.
i think it was so awesome that u and your mom did this project together! u should do more w her she looks sweet😄
APRIL, that came out AWESOME.
The vids go to a whole new level of cool when your family is involved!

great build! I've just cleaned up an old plane I got from eBay using vinegar. I didn't know about the salt trick though and will use this when I clean the rest up!
thanks for sharing my wife wants a windmill bilt. very helpful.
Great project!
Totally Awesome video. Thank you for inspiration!
great video April..
fantastic - thank you for sharing, you are really really good at what you do.
That's so cool. That came out great!
LOVE those super jaws for holding wood. Ironic, I found an old dilapidated windmill in Norman and bought it. I refinished it, new hardware, etc-etc. But, removing that old rust was a PITA...wish I would have done what you did. Looks great!
Cool, nice work
Turned out great! 🤓
April...that's cool. I'm your brazilian fan. I love so much to see your videos. .. congrats
This video made me smile.
