How to build a Sub250g FPV drone with DJI O3 // Quadmula Siren F35 / F3

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Based on this build by Murders FPV which is what started my build journey so check it out - • Quadmula Siren F3 Spli...
This is a step by step how to video to help you build your own FPV drone. It’s a 3.5inch Sub250g, freestyle quad with DJI O3 and although these aren’t the cheapest parts, they are high quality and easily available in most countries… they also make the build extremely easy.
I’ll not only show you how I build this quad, but I’ll also take you through the Betaflight configuration and set up all the way through to your first flight.
If you're new here, I've been flying the 3inch version of this (the Siren F3) for the last year, it quickly became my favourite quad and is the closest I've had to a 5inch in a Sub250g package. As soon as Quadmula announced the Siren F35 I couldn't wait to try it out and since recording this video this has become the quad I run daily.
Disclosures:
I am not sponsored by any of the companies/ brands featured in this video, I haven't received a discount or free parts in exchange for creating this video. These are the parts I would typically use for builds. I've listed all the parts I've used below with non-affiliate links, this is partly because I'm too lazy to set them up but also because these parts aren't cheap and I want you to be sure that I'm not gaining anything by you buying any of the parts in this video.
If you do want to support me or the community, go check out MurdersFPV's channel and use his links for this build as he's the reason I started and now love building these quads!

    I just finished building a Djinn F25 it’s a similar size body to the siren F3/F35 so the components should fit… it’s a little tighter in places but you should be ok with smaller motors (1404) and a smaller capacitor which will save you some weight

  • @efelton2699

    I was considering the f3 when it came out but ended up doing an Aos3.5 I run these same motors though on a mamba Aio. The Aos is a squished x as this appears to be also that’s why I wondered. This frame is far more durable I’m sure. I’ve blown mine apart several times. Had a motor fry over concrete and then a prop blow off over the same concrete. I run way bigger battery’s though. Limenier 850 6s. I originally cared about sub 250 but nobody ever sees me when I fly so I don’t care.

  • @GarethDix

    @GarethDix

    Ай бұрын

    The AOS v5 frames have the arms a little further back in the body like a true X does which is probably how they get the props out of view by squashing the x. It does look like the AOS frames use a lot of the weight in the body for frame rather than the arms so hopefully that’s added protection for the expensive bits! I run larger batteries on my other Sub250g quads when I’m out of the city but then I just built a new 5inch which I tend to pick up when I know I’m going to the middle of nowhere

    Hey I've been silently following your FPV journey for a couple of months now, I've just started myself and went down a similar route to you, but instead of starting 5 inch I bought a Mobula 8 03 then realised it was to heavy to freestyle like I wanted , I then bought analogue stuff 04xpros with the idea of getting a Walksnail VRX in the future and I'm actually loving it even though I've tasted that sweet sweet video feed that DJI has to offer, I think I'm more of a performance junkie, I was just wondering how the Baby Hawk 03 is holding up was the jitter the 03 itself or was it the quad, I'm about to pull the trigger on it but your experience with it is making be hold off, have you tried putting a different 03 on it yet? My goggles 2 are just on the shelf at the moment collecting dust and I want a quad I can fly anywhere but will some decent power, it feels like the Baby hawk 03 is the only real option at the moment for a BNF

  • @GarethDix

    @GarethDix

    Ай бұрын

    I tried so many things with the babyhawk O3 and couldn’t get rid of that jitter so I can’t recommend it… I’ve taken the insides of that and put it into the Quadmula Djinn25 frame to see if that fixes is but I ended up travelling a lot so haven’t had a chance to fly it more yet. But I know what you mean the O3 image is amazing, I’ve been testing whoops out with HDzero and analog but I wish DJI made a whoop sized unit! So I’m guessing you don’t want to try building your own quad? It’s probably the better way to get into the O3 freestyle at the moment but there are other BNF’s that have come on the market more recently. I haven’t flown these but wanted to try them out. The Five33 Tiny trainer now comes in O3 now too and is apparently amazing, the AOS3.5 is recommended a lot if you can find a BNF one. The list opens up more if you to the DJI vista version or O3 in 5inch is popular (I’d recommend the GEPRC Mark5) The other option would be to buy something that doesn’t have an O3 version and install it in there. It’s usually pretty simple. Your whoops thought you could upgrade the motors to a higher kv and then you’ll have that punch

    @@GarethDix Thankyou for the detailed reply and the suggestions, yes I may have to build my own it seems. It would be nice if the likes of Gep RC sold something similar to their smart 35 but built for an 03 but without the 03 so I can add my own and make it cheaper. The mark 5 is defiantly on the Wishlist but for now I want to remain sub 250. I've seen so many people with the Babyhawk 03 with smooth footage I wonder if they're all like that and its just rocksteady that smooths it out? If I put higher kv motors on my Mobula 8 03 I would probably get like a minute of flight time, the analogue version is great though, really good, it's a super whoop. Thanks again and all the best.

    @ltclungex6643 I’m pretty sure other people I’ve asked about the issue have said it hasn’t been a problem with theirs so it’s probably a QC issue. If you buy it from somewhere local it might be better because then you can return it or exchange it with them. I’m almost sure you could fit an O3 in the Smart35… a naked O3 would definitely fit in there. I’m guessing they get more sales in mini whoops with the O3 because it’s a bit safer and it won’t have props in view like a freestyle quad. I just picked up an Ummagawd 2Fiddy ready to build kit with an O3 so let’s see how that goes… it comes with everything you need to build it and looks fairly simple to put together. I also got a spare frame as I want to build a 3.5inch version of it as well to see how that flies too

  • @GarethDix

    @GarethDix

    Ай бұрын

    I’ve been getting 4-5mins but I definitely need a calibration on either my charger or betaflight as it never reads 4.35 when I start flying. • @GarethDix

    @GarethDix

    Ай бұрын

    @Nik_FPV621 it depends on how easy it is to get out of those zones for you. There’s a few near me now that are ok to fly as long as it’s below 120m but I get so much more time flying Sub250g because I can just go locally. • @GarethDix

    @GarethDix

    Ай бұрын

    @Nik_FPV621 that’s something I plan on testing more when I get back… the 3inch feels more like a 5inch at the moment but I think that’s just because the 3.5inch is 20g lighter… with the additional weight I think it will feel more like a 5inch. If you want to build Sub250g for the 5in feeling then it’s worth going with the 5in first as a reference. If you’re not likely to fly 5in that often you could just go Sub250g and not worry about it ☺️

    The DJI mini is pretty quiet… but I think that’s because it has a lower sound rather than lower volume. 3.5 will usually add a minute or more extra flight time & as Gareth said the 3 can feel like it has more momentum. On my light racer I like 3.5 but if it was for freestyle it would feel floaty so adding a thumbpro on top actually feels nicer on it. Personally 3.5 is so good cause you get great performance and as much flight time as most 5 inch freestyle rigs all depends what you want.
