Keep your Protege learning. Carpentry is the most prestigious craft in the world. Jesus is a carpenter. Thank you for the angles.

Basically, if you consider your left side miter scale, 0 to 50 deg. You set your miter saw to 18deg on it, you ended up with a small useless disposable wood cut of 18deg and a large wrong 32deg piece of wood for your star. Then, setting up the meter to 45deg you push up the degree scale to zero and complement ( adding) to your wished angle from there. Well that is my understanding.

Thks only 1 suggestion. Show the piece so we know the direction of the 2 angles

I don't understand how setting the degree at 36 makes it 54 degrees!? Im a confused 🤔🤔😚

The angles you made simple but what are your lengths for the pieces? I’ve watched three other videos and yours makes the most sense. I guess my math is under the bridge someplace. To get the 18 * you take 36/2 = 18 and the 54 90-36=54

Thanks for the video demonstration. I would make one note: that doing the final 36° cut you mention and or show that the original 18 degree angle cut is facing the fence! It’s not clearly shown or demonstrated but that is vital to the success of the build.

I thank you very much. I too have a miter saw that cuts 45 degree angle cuts. Enjoyed the math lesson. Now, I can make my stars. Merry Christmas.

I see you don't use stop blocks . How do you know how far in to go make cut ? Pieces are got be all the same length right?

Thanks Chris and Collin! I bought a miter saw last weekend, and can honestly say you’re the reason I’m thrilled with the possibilities going forward. I made three stars yesterday and am delighted with the results. I’m signed in under the wrong account, or I’d ask you all a few questions. Thanks again.
