How to Build a Spiral Staircase and EPIC Epoxy Floor Finish: OMG FINAL
In this final episode of the Oregon Music Garage, I share our first experience building a spiral staircase as well as the epic epoxy floor my client had laid down. We built the spiral staircase kit from salter spiral stairs, and overall it was a good experience. Next time it will definitely be easier now that we know what we are doing
Wait till the end to see the epic epoxy floor finish doug from ECO Advantage laid down. It will blow your mind it looks so cool. Sorry this video took so long to edit, we wrapped this up last summer sometime.
Pretty awesome the way the interior finishes turned out. I didn't know what to expect using LP Smartside through out the inside, but was pleasantly surprised. What do you think about it?

Thank you for showing your mess up on the hand railing. I feel like that’s a mistake that most people would make, but most KZreadrs wouldn’t show.

Good evening just saw your video. What should be the size of the opening space on the top of the stairs? Thank you
It's great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan's kzread.infoUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.
Awesome job! Has been fun and informative to watch by a guy who has been in construction for over 60 years! And yes....I have installed several of the spiral stairs as you did here.
I assembled one of these ~ 15 years ago. An interesting product. Customer was very happy. Nice work RR. 👍
Great info! We did a spiral staircase from Salter at our house a few years back. We had the aluminum tubing for a rail. What a pain! Very hard to get it “unrolled” and bent into the correct shape. Very happy with it once it was up. Please note code calls for a 2” space between the outside of the rail and the wall. This allows someone using the rail to grasp it all the way down with their hand around it. Had to alter ours after putting it up the first time. Hopefully save someone else the headache of doing it over!
Looking forward to seeing the fitted out garage. So far it is amazing and thanks for all of the hard work you did recording and editing. Thanks John for letting your great facility to be videoed.
Impressive work...really shows the variety of options you have with pole barn construction. Great job!
Beautiful work all the way around. I love seeing the craftsmanship of those that are passionate about their trade.
I have built a few timber spirals from scratch. A couple from kits. Also back in the 1990's I installed a couple of those metal versions but with flat metal handrail. Not too bad to do. Trimming out the circular openings was the hardest part. They look good but are pretty impractical. They don't meet modern regs in a lot of places now either.
Fantastic! I was thinking about this building the other day (I live in New Zealand so I'm miles away) and wondering how it was getting on. Thanks for sharing an update. When we travel thru the States on holiday we'll call in and buy a mandolin xxx

A lot of gas station bathroom floors have similar epoxy floors, they’re becoming more popular in residential builds because of how cheap they are. Not a big fan but probably the best thing for that build.
Man that floor is absolutely beautiful, fantastic work on a great building, I’ve watched from the beginning 😄
Once again, the build technique is (freedom) for the client to expand the possibilities for the interior…. Another fantastic project….. guys, lots more please… KZread is new to me so I’m a little behind the curve 🔨🎉💥😁🍺👍👍💥🇬🇧🇺🇸
Thanks for the update! I wish it was shorts weather again too!
So impressive. Your skills and craftsmanship as amazing.
“The client has done a great job” you are too modest kyle. You and greg did a great job. Biggest probs from Denmark. 💪🏼👍🏼
Siempre con trabajos.... Extraordinarios!!!! Te felicito!!! José de argentina...
I think it looks great. I hope this helps people decide about their building choices.
Beautiful. Love the black posts and black railings.
Great surprise video! Cool to see you guys out of your element and working through something new. Great work as always.
That floor is sick!!! Man that sets that building off!!!! Great job.
Absolutely stunning work on this project Kyle and Greg! Love the interior
Beautiful work dudes. Been quite a journey watching it come together but the end result is gorgeous.
Beautiful floors that make all your hard work look even better
Beautiful job, Kyle and Greg! No surprises there.
Love those floors. Miss my flooring days. Three man crew, we did a lot of traveling and a lot of SQFT.
Kyle and Greg, Wow! You guys definitely upped your game on this one. This little music shop is gorgeous! Loved watching this series, The level of true craftsmanship definitely shows with the quality of your work, and your attention to building science which seems to get forgotten by many. Shout outs from a 25+ year builder/renovator from Ottawa 🇨🇦. Thanks for sharing all the great build videos, tips/tricks, shorts and tools days. Looking forward to seeing more great content from your channel.👍

I used the Paragon spiral stairs in the last barndo I built. Has aluminum handrail. Very tricky not to crimp or make wrong bends with it.
That interior space is so awesome. Love it
I've never seen a floor like that. Beautiful.

I built one of those kits in 1999. Bought it from "The Iron Shop" in Chicago. Never did like the poly handrail, either. Put a nice brass top cap on the center post. 23 years later.. still rock solid. Still don't like the poly hand rail, but it is still like new and solid. Think I paid around $700. Would install it again, without question. BTW, my top step was square. The hand rail came out "square" with no turn in. I did not know what I was doing, I got lucky.
Man what a gorgeous place!! Love your work ethic and craftsman ship! One comment from someone who has drilled their left hand while holding a piece during the drilling with your right hand....please watch where your left hand is laying when drilling!
Very timely video. I have to install one of these that goes up 2 stories soon. I'll definitely want a helper for the railing.
Final walk through is gonna be awesome excellent work
I think this looks awesome and I wish I had your talent and skills. MATH NEVER LIES!
What’s up Kyle, this was nice to see the owners of these amazing buildings you guys put together, keep up the great work
You know what is a treat Kyle is seeing you getting to a million followers. Almost there maybe next week.
Such a perfect job !!!! Enjoyed the entire trip
What the world needs Yes , more live music. From the uk . Love it .
Man, Been watching all of the videos. Turned out crazy amazing!
Looks awesome, nice to see an almost end of project revisit.
fantastic statement piece from RR Buildings.
Get some set screw stops for the drill bits so you can set the depth of the hole on a free-hand drilling operation. You probably have that figured out already.

I love me some Post-n-Beam builds man. Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful Job guys !! And yes not feeling the silver rail mounts either! Keep up the great work and attention to detail.
The interior looks awesome. Again, great job!!!
I like the detain in the interior. As far as the second to last step, probably get a local fabricator to do make a squared off step to smooth out the last steps.
Absolutely stunning 🤩
fantastic finishing touches, congrats...
Looks great. Would be nice to see final visit.
That floor looks amazing.
Just stunningly beautiful…
Very nice! I truly can see myself living in a post frame building in a rural area. Only drawback is that I live in Texas, outside of your area.
That epoxy floor is amazing!!!!
Kyle, you build my dream workshops everyday. And that floor, he's not a contractor, he's an artist!
Love the look...
Excelente trabajo bellísimo trabajo de la escalera 👌🏻 💯 saludos desde chile 👍 👊
Just take and put a slight roll in the last three or four posts to open the area up. Just have to make sure they are all rolled in the same direction.
Thanks for doing this, greatly enjoyed
Remarkable! Enough said!
That place looks awesome guy's. Nice work!!
I was like...'damn' when that drill pulled thru...lol...in a spot like that, pull out the portaband, put bit in a vise and cut that sucker down to a stubby drill bit...tubular plastic grabs the bit quick once it goes thru...also, another reason I hate a brushless Makita drill or driver...Im a fan of the older Maks with brushes(I have 10-15 of them)...Much more variable speed control in the trigger than a brushless(I have both)...jmo...Stairs turned out great...except the obvious spindle bases not powercoated black?...always a pleasure to watch you work and explain things...even for us 'old school' carpenters who can still learn a trick or two...Have a great evening Brother!
Looks amazing
I absolutely love it 🥰
Looking great!!
I just installed a 5' diameter Paragon spiral staircase by myself about 2 weeks ago and it was a nightmare. Particularly because I opted for the "premium" aluminum hand rail instead of the more flexible vinyl (if you think the vinyl hand rail install was hard, try a stiff metal tube that you have to bend and hammer into shape). Some of their hardware was also out of spec. Would not recommend getting any of their custom staircases, but their cheap econo line kits would probably still be worth it.
Thank you
That building looks Great
Building looks great!
That floor is amazing.
Love all of it and the floor is awesome
Sharp looking building!
Really fancy when you are as talented as Greg is. We all know Greg is the reason you are almost at a million followers. Let’s Go Gregory
I think the place turned out fabulous.
Damn that place is sweet! That floor is beautiful!
Wow! I’m impressed beyond words. Best Regards Fred Thomas
18:00 Hey Kyle, Get another baluster. Cut the one off that is holding the corner of the step and then put the new one where you need it to move the handrail over. Either that, or find another short pc to hold the corner up.
floor looks great
Fantastic space you've created there! Do you ever post dimensions of the spaces? I'd love more details. And, you're right about the polished aluminum center mounts -- the silver color doesn't work. Maybe it grows on a person? ... Nevertheless, the mounts don't detract from the space at all -- and that floor is just incredible! Meanwhile, another great post! And will plan a road trip from Virginia to Oregon, Illinois, this summer! Thank you for such an interesting and educational project series -- following this one has been a great journey!
