How To Build A Small Patio DIY step 7. Laying Pavers

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Step 7 in building a small DIY paver patio is laying the pavers. If you've done the base and sand correctly, this is one of the easier steps.
Lay the pavers onto your sand one at a time, making sure to keep them all in line. On this patio we're using a herringbone pattern, so there will be lots of cuts around the edges.
When you get to the edges, mark the cut with a pencil. Then cut the brick with an angle grinder and set it in place.
Once the bricks are all in place, compact them with a vibratory compactor or hit them with a mallet and 2x4. The 2x4 method works great on a small patio.
Next, clean the pavers with a blower and spread your grout sand. In this case, we're using polymeric sand that hardens when it gets wet.

    Proper cowboys. Dangerous too. Not laid tight. You never use a grinder without a guard. Buy a bigger one that suits the job and you’ll never get it down with a hammer. All in all this is how not to do it. Fools

    @@claytonmallia9892 its basically just a disc with find sandpaper on the edge. the only way you are losing a finger to it is if you keep it there for a long time applying a lot of pressure.

    Ah the little bricks of yesterday. Seems large brick is all.people use now. I had the misfortune of laying a 4 inch thick driveway block. The biggest block was 109 lbs and the other two were smaller at 79 lbs and 30 lbs. Havent had small brick in 20 years.

    Heringbone pattern would be angled 45 degrees to the existing pavement. This would actually be an L or elbow pattern!

    A herringbone can be in any direction. It's the pattern of the block themselves that make it a herringbone.

    Slag/chip stone is better for your base...the ants can't get it out of there, creating a cavity and sinking your pavers, like they can with sand. At least it's not hard to fix every couple years!

  • @Gambrick

    @Gambrick

    3 ай бұрын

    The blower gets rid of anything really small that could get missed by the broom, like small bits of dirt, dust, or even pollen. You want toe surface as clean as possible so nothing gets into the polymeric sand when it hardens.
