    There’s a horrible job anybody standing on the sand will compact in places where you stand and the pavers will be sticking up for other ones.

    Clean your grill,that’s why it’s flared up. Also you don’t need heat turned up full blast,medium high is good enough for burgers.

    May I ask the pipes should place horizontal or vertical before screening?

  • @Gambrick
    @Gambrick14 күн бұрын

    You can run the pipes horizontal or vertical, what matter is how the patio pitches. A patio generally pitches away from the house so that's the direction the poles run, but if your pavers are away from the house then you can run your poles and pitch the patio in any direction.

    Do pavers with polymeric sand in the joints provide enough impermeability for rainwater to drain off or will water seep into the joints and into the soil below?

  • @Gambrick
    @Gambrick17 күн бұрын

    Yes, as long as it's installed correctly water will run off instead of draining into the soil below. The patio should also be pitched about 1" per 6-8 feet.

    I thought polymeric sand was supposed to be compacted into the joints, but you didn't? Was this a type that didn't require that?

  • @Gambrick
    @Gambrick24 күн бұрын

    It depends on the size of the joints, if they're wide enough the sand will fall to the bottom so you don't have to compact it, but for some pavers we compact two or three times to make sure sand reaches the bottom. You can tell if sand reaches the bottom by how much you're using per sq. ft. of pavers.

    The best way to remove paint like that and get it down to Bare wood is using a propane torch. Just heat up the paint until it gets soft and then you’re putting knife will peal it off easily and you have nothing bare Wood

    What you’re using is called a concrete finishing trowel. A mason’s trowel has a much smaller, Diamond/triangular shaped blade.

    Don't do this. All rotten and moist wood must be removed and replaced. Also, this expansion foam absorbs moisture and will accellerate furter rot.

    Your thoughts on 1/4-10 clean gravel instead of sand?

  • @Gambrick
    @GambrickАй бұрын

    We like to use it in areas that get lots of water because it's porous and allows water to flow freely through. This helps prevent failure due to water pressure. It also helps prevent heaving when temps reach freezing or below. Depending on where you live it may be a better option than sand.

    Slightly damp cloth to dust properly before painting. Otherwise, you're more likely to leave particles the paint will climb and leave imperfections in the finish.

    Power tools like an angle grinder DO work for this... But, imo, in this case (and others), the superior way to do this is with a rigging axe; one swing cleanly cuts most protruding nails and screws- It takes a bit of practice, but is far, far faster. (A 'slick' also works great... Fast, clean, one stroke. (A slick is just a big two handed chisel, 2-3' long by 2-1/2" or more wide at the shallow angled blade which is socketed into a kinked shaft with a rounded head. It is old-school, but a great tool!
