i watch far too many professional woodworkers on KZread. They're great to watch, as I enjoy watching experts do their thing. however, this was a nice change of pace, to see an average Joe do roughly what I would end up doing as well.

I had the same kinda idea for my garage. I utilized cabinets that came with my house and am going to use 2 yukon white 9 drawer tool boxes side by side to make. Long work Bench with the cabinets being hung level with the tops making more counter space for lighter things like chargers and stuff like that. Super clean set up you made 👌

I am so happy for you. This is a great project and it turned out fantastic. The good thing ya didn't even have to refinance the house to do it. You have a beautiful shop and this shows we don't have to spend a fortune to do it. I guess because I'm getting older if ya put a row of uppers across and put some kind of under cabinet lighting that could be a good thing as well. This is a great project thanks for sharing. Hope you have years of enjoyment in your shop.

Nice job on the workbenches. I did something similar with mine. I built in multiple toolboxes into a metal framed structure vs. wood and then fit my Snap-on KRL box in the middle. I like the way yours ties into the wall and looks good with the floor. I love the red color but I'm a bit biased towards red. Mike

Nice build.. Yesterday, I ordered two 46 inch wide tool storage cabinets to do the same type of thing. In my build, the cabinets will be separated by a separate stand for my miter saw leaving the cabinets as the wings. One change I am making is to rotate the fixed casters from side-to-side to position them front to back allowing them to be pulled forward and away from the wall. Again, really great build.

This was a nice easy watch. No super loud music, you didn't scream what you were talking about. Everything was done in a very "calm" manner. I'm going to view other video's from you and possibly subscribe. I know everyone has opinions.....but since you took the wheels off the two end tool boxes, I probably would have taken the wheels off the other cabinets too. Simply because I don't like to clean under anything, or have to retrieve anything from under anything. But what you have done is a nice clean build and looks very good. Thanks for posting!

On drawer liners I found a 10x10 roll of indoor outdoor carpet at Aldi it was cheaper the bulk carpet at Lowe’s or HD for $20 it comes in once a year makes great drawer liners. Cuts easy with shears. Final trim was just household scissors it get a good fit.

I have looked at a lot of garage workbench/tool storage/cabinet solutions. None are perfect. None are really inexpensive, even the cheap ones ain't cheap. I really like the Sonic Tools cabinets, but for my space it priced out to $8K plus shipping. The thing i like about the Sonic Tool cabinets, they have a lot of options on drawer sizes, the vertical height of the drawers, I need mostly shallow drawers. Those US General 26s are a perfect fit for me. I've been eyeing them for a while now. Most of the inexpensive pre-built metal cabinet systems have very deep vertical height drawers, not really for tool storage. you take away the $1200 side cabinet and you're only at $800 for the bench you built. Add a few US General 44's and you still have a reasonably priced bench. Great build and video.

? What do you work on? Been a mechanic for 48 years and that's a really pretty bench but I need a big vise and that center box takes up bench space to beat on a driveshaft for new joints. Looks like a NASCAR or F1 shop. Do you plan on doing mechanical work on that thing or building models?
