How to Build a Scrambler on a Budget Challenge Ep 3 Honda CX500 Street Scrambler / Tracker Build. The engine was running rough, even after rebuilding the carburetors a few times trying to work out why I finally found the problem. :)

I love the Honda comstar wheels, however, slightly disappointed that I can only fit a 120mm wide tire on the CX 500 shaft drive rear wheel.
Drop a comment if you know a way around this I would love to here it.

    Just wanted to say thank for making these videos, I thoroughly enjoy watching them. I actually had a really bad motorcycle wreck so I've really enjoyed binge watching these while recovering. I'd say a darker metallic green with brown flat brat style seat or what would be really cool bare metal kind of a brushed aluminum look with a clear over it and brown seat and grips! Thanks again for all the cool videos

    Im very grateful for your comments and I really hope you make a fast recovery, I get a lot of enjoyment from comments like this and all the time planing my shots, videoing and editing makes it all worthwhile when I get a comment like this one. :) Im happy you enjoy them. the early ones were done with a cheap camera so the sound and quality has come a long way as you have probably noticed. as long as i get comments like this I will keep sharing every week :)

    Oh Man! I should have thought to mention those little o-rings in the air screws! I now remember I too had to coax the old ones out of the carb bodies on my CB900. Tricky little buggers to fish out. Also, you have no idea what the sound of that CX running does to me. I'm flooded with memories of my youth when I hear it. The CX500C was my first streetbike at age 16 and the memories are really good. Thanks for that.

Yes I’m so glad I found the problem, it has been bugging me ever since I started this build, People often ask me if I’m going to sell the bikes that I build and my answer is always No, however I have no idea where I’m gonna keep them all lol 😂

    Thank you mate, I'm glad you are enjoying the videos, In regards to your build, I would use the original engine if you can, its a lot easier to do that than start from scratch. If you are asking me this question I'm assuming this is something new you want to tackle and therefore keep it simple for yourself so you can ride it sooner. If you are up for a challenge however, go for it and do some google research on your model of bike and find someone that has done the mods you want to do so you know its posable. I hope that information helps

    À quite big yellow headlight with a metal grid/protector in front, for the turn signals I would have gone for ones that look like the Harley ones , I think the best tank colour would be a beige/ creamy mat colour or brushed aluminium in a more old school/rustic look. it would also fit great with a dark brown leather flat seat, great video man I love this build, I m thinking abaout making a 125 scrambler myself, keep up the great work, please forgive my English it s not my mother tongue. how tall shocks can you put in such bike ? can it actually become some what half decent off road motorcycle, nothing super crazy but just so you dont turn back when hit a gravel or bumpy road or some smoother trails.

    ahmed z yes this bike will be great off Road but I won’t try taking it over any jumps, I won’t increase the rear shocks much more than stock unless you know what you are doing, a bike can get unsafe if you change the rake angle to much.

    hey mate, I am curious what kind of front end you will use for scrambler bike build you are doing now. I see that quite a few scrambler builds are using R6 forks, I dont know much about bikes but if I had a scrambler I would want to do a bit off-road style riding, get in dirt and ride under rain. =) Do you think the R6 is good for off-road as well? I am curious if you would still use R6 on scrambler if you have no budget constraints.

  • @CafeRacerGarage

    @CafeRacerGarage

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi mate, R6 is not the best for off-road as it doesn't have the travel you need, look for the moto X bikes with slightly longer forks than what is on the bike, be careful not to mess with the fork rake angle or you can make the bike very dangerous to ride

    Coming along great! One suggestion is to tune it ASAP due to those CV carbs. They work great when working but what may seem like a simple tune issue could lead to needing a new carb or 2. The channel that leads to that idle air screw can build corrosion that could make it all worse even after soaking because it can break loose and completely clog the port. Especially if the bike has set up for a long time, which your looks like it has. This happened to my gl project. I ended up upgrading my carbs and intakes. Also, I actually left out the small metal washer on my adjustment screws at one point! Lol! I still have mine if you want them. The left carb worked fine. Also if you don't have a color tune get one. Great for figuring those issues out...
