How to build a redi rock retaining wall - We built this 10 ft tall wall along a creek. These Redi-rock blocks are big blocks, the base blocks weight 3600 lbs. We used a John Deere 85G excavator to set these big retaining wall blocks. Make sure you check out part one where we did the excavation and poured the concrete footer.

Nice job! Great video. I do a lot of digging too, and can't sleep when it rains overnight during project like this.
far and away the best retaining wall out there IMO
Those blocks are huge! Great job 👍

Nice job .
I would think you would want some sort of glass type fence on the top to keep a toddler from going over, also, some steps down to the creek with a gate at the top.
Pouring a concrete footer is definitely the way to go on these, I’m currently doing a wall with a gravel footer. It’s very easy to get that first row off grade.

I've done plenty of stone base retaining walls so I know exactly what you mean. Thanks for watching!

use a 12ft concrete screed to level the gravel it works wonders (along with a smooth equipment operator)
only thing moving that wall is a 6.9 on the Richter scale

What was the overall cost?
nice! did you have to put gravel underneath the bottom cousre and compact first?
Good job leveling the concrete footing. I expected it to give you a hard time leveling the first course of block. Challenging project, but you got it done.

Thank you, I would say about 70 yards was removed. That's funny because I don't think I have an accent but every once in a while someone says I do lol. Thanks for watching!
that back stone on filter fabric behind wall do you have to compact it or not?
Wonder how much a job like this cost

Like most things it depends on your region, job site access, etc. The paper work alone was around 15k (this was permitting, engineering, design, geo testing, and all the environmental paper work). Labor and materials was around 35k.

I think more people would like to have this product if they could ever get a hold of someone who can quote it. I’m having the hardest time finding someone.

The only thing I can recommend is trying to find someone during the winter months when contractors are generally slower. Even if it can't be completed in the winter they can still set a date for the coming spring. Best of luck with your project!
How much does something like this cost?
You suppose to use a Filter Fabric such as Mirafi 140N or 180N but what i see is a 6mil Vapor barrier which does not allowed the water to go through.

What do these blocks cost, and how do you go about finding an engineer for something like this?
@srmcontracting
Жыл бұрын
They very based on size but in the $150-200 range. Google retaining wall engineer or grading engineer. Call a few places though, their prices can vary dramatically.
can you use the readi rock as a sea wall? what does is run per foot
@srmcontracting

I'm sure you could, you definitely want to check with an engineer for a wall like that. There about $150 a block. Thanks for watching
Where are the tie backs? Can’t believe your engineer didn’t require them. Great looking wall.

Usually retaining wall block that big do not require tiebacks. The sheer weight of them alone, and the indentations in each block is what locks those in. Smaller retaining wall block require Geo grid as they don’t have the weight to hold them in place.
how much did this all cost?

I want to know that too.
Why the concrete footing ? Did the engineers call for it?
@srmcontracting
Жыл бұрын
Yes, they didn't like the soil conditions so they wanted the concrete footer to be safe.
Fajny mur, szkoda, że nie zrobiłeś dłuższego muru.
I’m sure you will never see this, but if you do…HELP ! Who do I call to get this done in my yard?! What kind of company? I have a huge erosion issue and the county won’t do anything to help.

Hello, call some local excavation companies and ask if the build retaining walls. Get more then one opinion and have the wall designed by an engineer. Make sure permits are pulled and inspections are done. Best of luck with your project!
Those aren’t going anywhere
