A basic push wheel chair usually is between 150 and 400 but if you want a power one they get very expensive

@@scruffyark I don't really understand why motorized ones are so expensive. At the end, it is no more than a motor, a controller board,a battery and a joystick. In Vietnam, even imported ones are all under 2 grands. Maybe if i can export to the US a bunch of these boys, i could have made a fortune!

My son got to build a few of these this year with Go Baby Go as part of his Lego Robotics team volunteering. Good cause and great job

My wife recently has had to start using walkers and a wheelchair. It's crazy what we take for granted, this is an amazing project.

You guys are amazing. I'm a disabled man. I had difficulty as a kid (It was the 80's) with finding services like this. Great job.

I suspect that many kids would strongly prefer these cheap toys to an expensive "boring" wheelchair :-)

@@johnnyregs2378 - According to Go Baby Go, the power wheelchairs usually aren’t an option until the children are older, and thus the modified toy cars provide mobility to very young kids who otherwise might depend on helpers for mobility in environments, like indoors, where the limitations are not an issue at all.

Awesome build, Zach. As an engineering student at Milligan University, we design and build similar vehicles out of battery powered cars. Two key differences would be that we wire all controls into a joystick, which allows both turning, reverse, and accelerator functions to be handled in one control. We also designed a kill switch remote from a garage door opener to allow the parents to stop the vehicle if a child decided to go off the reservation. All in all, building these cars for kids with physical limitations was a delight, both for myself and my fellow engineers, as well as the kids and their families.

Zack and Cambry is like blessings to the earth.

I live in Portugal, and my mother had a degenerative disease that required her to be confined to a wheelchair, for a time. We're not a very rich country, and my family is working class. My mom had a wheelchair given to her by our healthcare system. I wish everyone was as lucky as my mom when it comes to that, at least. Happy holidays.

We just started doing this at my university last year. We used a john deere tractor. The modifications were a harness, kill switch for the parents, a better speed control, and a bigger steering wheel. We tested different components and found out they would fail if the kid was going around 80 mph (give or take a few). Awesome video!

@@jesusisrussian7059 that most likely because apple forced them to go bluetooth and normally apple people buy apple products only to pair with their iPhone which is dumb i got a 80$ jlab Bluetooth air buds on sale for 50$ and there was a comparison between the airpod and the jlab jbuds and the guy said to buy the one that costs less because they are just as good

@@akatheking82 trust me, a $100 wheelchair is very poor quality and only really meant for people with temporary disability. a decent quality wheelchair that will last costs a lot and won't help every kid with mobility issues

Custom lightweight built wheel chairs are made of titanium that's where the cost is mostly in them then there's the custom fitting etc

Man hats off to the people doing this. That's gotta be a very rewarding job seeing the smiles on these kid faces.

While not needed, the ability to drive themselves gives the children a lot of autonomy which is a big part of the whole thing
