Its brilliant the way you think working on your own and explaining it, Thank you
excellent idea for clamping when making your walls...I will definitely use that on mine. as well as the treated 6x6 & wrap...didn't think about that. I have a bunch of old house windows I am going to use on my green house & use a glass film on some of those windows as most greenhouse I have seen
Fantastic Don, looks good so far.
I'm about to build an attached greenhouse for my home and YT channel. Thank you for all the tips. Subscribed!

Awesome video! I just found your channel today and am excited to check out your other projects for ideas for our own homestead.
this is what I am looking for. A solid framing job. I want to make mine 16x16
Cool build and nice tip on using the ledger board.
looks great !!! i love framing its my favorite part of building anyhing
Excellent video thank you for sharing
You make it look so easy. Great job 👏
Mrs Handyman Should have been thinking French doors so the Wheelbarrow could be moved in there. 😄... Nice Green House... I'm a Farmer. Lol
Your workmanship is always amazing! It's just beautiful! I have to agree, the door, where it is now, did turn out to be the best place for it. I also think that color is going to be perfect. I always loved to see a solid white greenhouse, but the stark white gets to ya after a while, and it ends up being this huge white thing that stands out too much, just like you said. I can't wait to see how it looks when it's enclosed. It's going to be so cool to be able to get your seed started in a beautiful greenhouse, with everything you need right there. Last, I'm really liking that foundation, and will be considering it for my shed that has been waiting forever to go up. Only difference is, it will have a floor. I'm so glad you shared this, gave me lots of ideas. Bless, Sheila

Great work mate. Enjoyed watching it. Showed my missus your video and had a laugh about your missus changing her mind about the door location. Ha ha
Where did you get the rods the 6 x 6's are sitting on? Thanks
I LOVE the greenhouse!! I am curious if you have any mold issues on the inside of the wood since it is not treated?
Wondering on a material cost for the framing material and panels? Great videos thank you!

Love the green house!!! Could you please share the dimensions of the one you built. Width, Length, & Height?

The dimensions are 10' x 12' with 8' walls. The roof has a 4/12 pitch. Thanks for watching!
Love it, is this a kit?
As soon as you said “Mrs.”, I knew what was coming. I feel your pain.
Just curious...was there a specific reason why you built it so high?
What climate are you in? U mentioned snow. Wondering how cold it gets and how u managed heat. I live in ks and want to build one. Heating is my concern.

I am in Upstate SC. The 55 gal drums have helped. If I was to do this again I would make the north wall solid. Perhaps rock or block. I have solar so I can use a small heater or a heat pump got water. Also might put an additional layer of panels on the inside of the roof to make a dead air space
How are the 6x6's attached to the ground? Thanks in advance.

Can you comment on total cost of materials? Was ur ventilation enough with the fan?
I would have liked to have seen one or two examples and explanation of of each step. for example, how did you fasten or attach the prebuilt walls to the foundation? how about tge attachment of the horizontal 2x4s.

Homestead Handyman any chance you could provide some details on the steps of nailing in the walls and how they are attached? also would like some details on horizontal boards. i am trying to learn about framing...
Beautiful job. What are the dimensions?
I like the way you make wooden-framed stuff in the USA. Maybe it has something to do with the relative cost of timber (lumber?) over there compared to here in the UK but you use 2 x 4 where we would be trying to do with 45mm x 45mm (just over 1.75 inch square). And 6x6 for the foundation? - we would be looking for a 25 year mortgage on that 8-)=. Still, we live on a very exposed smallholding on the edge of the Peak District so I tend to be making stuff that is not too much lighter than yours. Like you I'm aiming to make anything I build now last me out.

@@homesteadhandyman4481 Thanks for the reply. Glad you got a good crop from it. If you are like us you will gradually outgrow whatever you build. I built a 30ft lean-to greenhouse about 8 years ago . That has been augmented with three 6ft square cold-frames for strawberries and a 16 x 18 ft fruit cage and I'm looking to build another free-standing greenhouse as we can't move for plants in the existing one (same problem in the house but that's another story). I must say, I'm very impressed with 10mm twin-walled polycarbonate as a glazing material. It may not be as pretty as glass but in a gale we had a door come adrift that ended up about 100 yards away up against a hedge and it was fine.
Great Greenhouse! It is the best one I am going to copy on KZread for my property. What is the size?

Hi HH, your wonderful video inspired me to do a greenhouse following your example. Question... What is the name of the specific black plastic that you used to line your base beams. I'd like to get the same stuff for mine. Great job on the GH videos!!! Steve

Steve Cobb Thanks for watching ! The greenhouse has worked out very well. The plastic I used is what is used under a house that is placed on the dirt to keep out moisture from the crawl space. I think it is 10 mil
Can we plant orange trees or papaya ir other fruit trees in this house and how much space we need for every tree ??
Just built one myself 8' x 8' with a sloping PVC roof ....$800 CAD in costs
do you have a materials list for your greenhouse?
Hi great job, do you support the ridge board ? Or do you need to add extra support for the roof? Thanks

Homestead Handyman after you attached the polycarbonate does this makes the frame more stable and not wobbly ? I’m building a greenhouse and I’m just framing now and I wonder how to make it more structurally more stable Thanks for you reply 🙂
@homesteadhandyman4481

@@rchel72 The polycarbonate tightened everything up. You can put a few supports diagonally to hold everything square and plumb till you get the poly attached. Hope it goes well for you!

I don't suppose you had a video prior to the framing on the Foundation? That's the part I'm struggling the most with my planning to build. Fixing a foundation after you start to build isn't something I'd enjoy :)
Hey man, what size is this one?
How do you measure how long each roof board should be? I have a 10x 6 greenhouse I'm building and I don't know how long I have to have the boards for an a-frame roof.
@homesteadhandyman4481
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. An easy way is to find the center of the wall. Put up a temp board pointing to the sky centered at the mark you made. Make a mark at the height you want the roof peak. Get 2 boards as rafters and temp nail them up or use a clamp. Make a mark where they intersect from top to bottom. and the will be your angle. Copy angle on the other end of board for overhang. Save one board as a template to mark others.

Mine has been going for 3 years with no problem in humid SC. I did not use treated but chose to prime and paint the wood.
About how much does all this wood cost ?
Hi Don was wondering how much you do estimate it cost to build the greenhouse.

You didn't describe alot of things in your video.😮😢
Why so small? Just buy one kg tomatoes each month if that's what you're shooting for. Isnt that like 5 bucks or something? After 20 years you may get your initial investment
Need to build a rain roof over doorway now as slope of roof soaks you going through. But then you know that. Woman are not always practical minded
Why move the door? Why not just turn the whole greenhouse around. Move it over three inches and raise it up four. Lol.
Don, wait a day. She might change her mind again. Women 😆
