I just wanted to thank you so much for your video series on how to build your own greenhouse! I had a Harbor Freight kit, which lasted a few years until a storm and a huge limb from our 500 year old cedar tree completely decimated the aluminum framing. I was thankfully left with the wooden bottom structure & foundation, so all I had to do was reconstruct the upper part, this time with 2 x 4s for a sturdier structure. I could not have done it (by myself--a 70 year old woman) without the great framing tips you showed so well. IT WORKED!!! I was able to put up 3 walls in less than one day, and the fourth wall will go up tomorrow. I revised the existing floor plan (a standard 6 x 8 with the door on the short wall side) & cut out a 3 foot opening for the new door on the 8 foot side. I am adding a small dormer alcove entrance to add interest. Because my floorspace is small (not so spacious as yours!), I did, like trailers now have, fixed "pop-outs" on the short sides that cantilever out, giving me more space inside. They are almost like greenhouse "windows" and are wide enough to hold the 18" x 18" black plastic flats that nurseries sometimes give you with all the plants you buy... After the fourth wall (with alcove entrance) is done, I will proceed to the roof, which I also watched you do. I have so much more confidence in what to do next, all because of your videos! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! P.S. You have an adorable family and beautiful wife! (natural beauty!)

The top plate of the walls on a greenhouse get a ton of moisture from the condensate on the inside of the plastic. This will cause them to rot. I apply ice and water shield to protect the top of the wall. To protect the ice and water shield from the sun I put sheet metal flashing bent to a U shape on a brake. The tin goes over the top and down both sides and with the bottom open. After this I land my trusses on top.

I came across your green house build last night but watched it this morning. I was very impressed with what you did. I too had a similar green house build in 2020 and about 90% is recycled materials. I had started building in 2019 but with the lock down in March I completed it. My materials where single use plastic bottles in which 580+ in total where used. I had most of the wood for the frame bought before the lockdown, but had to scavenge for wood materials that where scattered around the apartment development i live in.
