How to Build an LED TV Cabinet!

Today on Modern Builds I'll be showing you how to build a floating media / TV console. I used LED strip lights on the bottom of the cabinet to show off the design and am hooked let me know what other LED projects I should do! This project is going in my recently converted attic, which is now a Home Theater. I had built a quick cabinet from scrap plywood in that video, but I'm excited to be building something a bit more 'proper'. The pattern I made with relief cuts is similar to what I did on the facer boards of the landings in the theater room and help tie everything together a little bit further. If you plan on building this, follow the link below to the written article on my website, where I have free PDF plans so you've got all the info you need.

Just made this and it’s awesome. Tip for anyone thinking about it - you don’t need to have pocket holes on the bottom of the support boards - just fasten them from the bottom since no one can see them anyways. Saves having to plug/sand extra holes!

Hey mike have you ever thought about repurposing old satellite dishes to repaint and turn into lighting ? There are millions of unwanted satellite dishes on every house that you look at , of course I’m thinking of the smaller dishes like dish tv or directv. They can be used as studio lighting if you attach them to a stand, for outdoor lighting , for ambient lighting if they are faced away from people, they offer a lot of surface area to reflect light. The receiver arm can be used to point the light at the dish or a simple hole can be drilled into the center to attach the light in the center of the reflector. They could even be painted and recessed into the ceiling for a curved decorative recessed lighting I’m thinking about giving it a shot
