In this video we’ll show you how to build this awesome modern media console. It has slatted sliding doors that can slide across the length of the cabinet to give it different configurations. The doors has a beautiful black finish using Rubio Monocoat. And the drawers has Blum Undermount Drawer Slides. I'm so happy with the way this turned out! Be sure to check out the plans for specific dimensions and a full cutting diagram!

    I really love those doors! I've been trying to niche into the media console world, and this definitely gives me some ideas! Those doors are amazing, but holy cow!! The labor would make those easily a $400 add to a project! I think I'd have to find a way to cut them on a CNC in a production environment.

    Looks great. I think the only change I would make, is doing what I did to mine, which is have a hole directly behind the chosen electrical device, so the device itself hides the hole - if that makes sense? Then you can’t see the cables. Aside from that, and perhaps using a little too much glue and noticing some breakout on the ash, it turned out great. Nice job!

    Excellent build and a stunning piece! One tip...when tapering the legs, if you cut the first taper, then roll the leg clockwise, you won't need to tape any offcuts onto the leg! Just passing along a tip I got when I was doing the same as you showed in the video.

    Beautiful, but to accommodate a good A/V system there needs to be a big enough opening top-center for a center channel speaker. This console has a vertical support in the way.

  • @916senna

    Awesome project, very professional production. A thought, why dont you make some custom bottom rail clips that bump together and maintain the spacing the same as between all the uprights when the doors are pushed against each other. You could hide the bump faces in the slot. Enjoyed watching this from the Shapr tutorial all the way to the final build.

    I love this, and I really appreciate the way you explain things. I might end up making this exact thing for our new living room! One question I’ve had about workflow - is there a benefit to/necessity for waiting until you’ve assembled the sliding door before painting? My intuition says I would want paint/stain first and then glue up to avoid the tediousness of getting inside all of those little nooks and crannies. But I’m a new WW and don’t trust my gut just yet 😅

  • @BevelishCreations

    @BevelishCreations

    6 ай бұрын

    You can do either way, but both have their downside. You obviously saw the downside to gluing up first. But if we stained and finished first, then we’d need to use tape to cover up the glue surfaces first before applying stain and finish since wood glue won’t work on finished surfaces.

    Hey I’m following your guide and had a question about securing the miter joints for the main “box” of the entertainment center. You used dominoes and wood glue to secure it. I don’t have a domino cutter and I can’t really find a 45 degree dowel jig that’s not expensive. Would would glue alone be strong enough to secure the miter joints given I have flat cuts and clamp correctly? I only plan on having maybe 50 pounds on the stand

  • @BevelishCreations

    @BevelishCreations

    7 ай бұрын

    Yesss it’ll absolutely be enough to just use glue without dowels or dominoes. Most of the weight will be supported by the three vertical partitions anyway. Main reason why I use dominoes is to make the glue up easier for such a large piece

    Gorgeous piece, but I would have designed it to hold your equipment out of sight...whats the point of all the storage space if the top is going to get cluttered? The unit is so nice, it needs to be as clutter free as possible

    They will be stored out of sight. It just works better this way for the thumbnail

    The thumbnail is funny. You built all those shelves so your PS5 & Switch could sit on top? 🤷🤣

    Thanks. But too much slow motion. Please consider speeding up some routin cutting scenes.

    What slow motion? I didn’t film anything in slow motion except for the CNC part, and that’s only 2-3 clips 😂

    Gorgeous! My favorite part was the design of the doors too! Is so satisfying seen your video and tons of knowledge. Kudos to @Shapr3d to sponsor people and channels like yours. Hopefully @BambuLab would send an X1 Carbon printer so you become the first using @Shapr3d for 3D printing design, because so far everyone is using Fusion 360, which still is not a native macOs app (pretty shameful for AutoDesk) Thanks again for the great content. So please @BambuLab let make Shapr3d change 3D printing modeling design the same way you guys did with 3D printer introducing the X1 Carbon. 🙏🏼
