    If all your videos are this succinct, well done and informative, I'll be glued to your KZread subscription. Too many people like to go into great detail about what is going on in their life, where they bought supplies and go too fast so they make errors. You got right to the point, went slow enough that you chose the actions you needed to do, and spoke clearly. Fantastic.

    Yes this lovely lady is truly a crafting genius. One of the things I love the most about her videos is that she does not ramble and repeat herself over and over like some others. I have watched her over the years and I have almost ALWAYS learned something as quickly and efficiently as possible. This video was no exception.

    I did it, I did it! Thank you so much Kay! After watching the video over and over, trying to understand how the system would take as reference the 1" circle to reflect the true size of the stamped image, I decided not to worry anymore and followed your instructions to the letter. Still trying to understand, though, how the contour feature determines the actual size of the stamp in Design Space. Maybe because the system considers the circle and the stamped image as "one" object? Still a mystery to me. Cheers!

    You could select your offset image and stamped image or print and cut image and center them with the centering tool. If they are at the right angle they should line up perfectly right?

  • @cleversomeday

    @cleversomeday

    Good question. If you import offsets from Inkscape, etc, that works, but the hand cut offsets don't center very well that way. You bring up a good point though, as it will save to some time to at least start with the centering command.

    Hello. New to you via this video and I have a question. Can you use the Cricut to cut out a stamped image with no border? On many stamped and die cut images, I find the white border left by a traditional metal die to be distracting and am in search of a way to solve that problem. I am wanting no more than a 1/32", or 1/16" at most, around my stamped image, can this machine and the Design Space do that? I have an older Cricut Expression 2 machine and 120+ cartridges and do not want to change to another machine entirely to solve this problem. If I can upgrade my Cricut to a newer model, use my cartridges and solve my aforementioned problem, all will be right with the world. Thanks for any info you can share and for this very helpful tutorial.

    Wow, thank you! I opened my new Cricut Maker last night. I’m tech savvy and still a lot confused, but I did manage to stamp and upload the image to cut out some die cuts. Pure luck. I have a few questions on what you’re showing us here. First, the Print then Cut option does not print the image with Cricut, or it does? I understand you upload an image to Design Center, but how does it align to cut out the image you put on a mat if it isn’t printing? What is printing and what is being cut out? Just a blank die cut? Second, I’m assuming you’re using a computer for Design Center and not an iPad, which is what I was using, which I see gives you many more options for customization. I didn’t know there was a difference, so thank you. I’ll get it eventually. I just need practice!

    Hi Amanda. This is a pretty advanced technique so no wonder it is confusing to someone who just started! Print then Cut is where you print your image from Design Space with a sensor mark so that the Cricut can read the sensor mark and know where to cut. So if you use the print then cut option shown in the video you are not cutting an original stamped image, but a printed copy of it. I suggest you visit learn.cricut.com and watch an introductory video on print then cut so that this will make more sense. I did use a computer for the video, but the features are very similar to iPad, so while things may be in a different place, they are still available.

    Fabulous video as always. Thank you for that. Question -- I'm reasonably new to card making and don't know why people want offsets. When you purchase stamps with matching dies you always get an offset which is why I prefer using Design Space. Please enlighten me I'm sure I'm missing something.

  • @cleversomeday

    @cleversomeday

    That's a great question. 2 reasons I can think of. One is a stylistic choice to have the "sticker" look which is a current trend that may or may not last. The other is a practical consideration that, like the bleed zone, makes slight mismatches less noticeable.

  • @reneetorres8549

    I don't purchase the actual dies for offsetting stamps, this allows me to have the same effect, rather than always "fussy cutting" my stamps.

    Mary hotmail Simkins It can be difficult to size your image to the exact stamp size. Sizing the circle enables you to be sure your image matches your stamp perfectly.

  • @cleversomeday

    @cleversomeday

    6 жыл бұрын

    Welcome to the Cricut world! Good question ... If you are doing print then cut you can type in any size, as I mentioned. However if you are cutting an actual stamped image, the size has to match exactly. Using a reference shape is a quicker, more accurate method than measuring an irregularly shaped stamp with a ruler, ensuring the proper rotation and converting to decimal, etc. Its one of those things that sounds easy, until you try it.

    fantastic video! i have one (probably silly) question as I think I've only got intermediate skills/knowledge with design space. would you be able to "close the eye" to hide everything but the circle (keeping it still grouped together), instead of doing the hide contour (to resize the circle - which is brilliant BTW)? I'm sure there's a reason you use this function - I've just never seen it used before. Thanks for the awesome idea though and so happy to have learned something new to do with my explore!

  • @cleversomeday

    @cleversomeday

    6 жыл бұрын

    That's a good question. We use hide contour here because the circle is on the same layer as the rest, so ungroup is not available. If you have a grouped image with a reference shape, then you would use ungroup instead. Either way works to hold the size, so you can choose based on how the image is constructed.
