How To Brew 1 Gallon Of High Quality Kava

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Brewing Kava is Easy but very different from making coffee and tea.
The active chemicals in kava that provide its desired effects are called kavalactones.
Kavalactones are not water-soluble so therefore must be forced from the root during the brewing process. Simply steeping kava like coffee or tea will not make a quality kava beverage. The brewing process of kava requires pressure and agitation to loosen the kavalactones from the kava root.
The blend and strain method is another popular way to quickly brew a batch of kava.
Here we show you how to brew a gallon of high quality kava efficiently.
Brew time: 5-7 minutes
What you need:
1) Blender
2) 1 Gallon Spring Water
3) 5oz Kava Root Powder - www.amazon.com/dp/B01N4DLGI9?...
4) Kavafied Pro Kava Strainer Bag -
www.amazon.com/dp/B01EJ3GIY0?...
5) Large Mixing Bowl
6) Two Gallon Bucket
Instructions:
1) Fill blender half way with water
2) Add 5oz of kava root powder
3) Blend on High for 1 minute
4) (Over mixing bowl) Pour kava mix into kava strainer bag
5) Pour remaining water into blender container
6) Pour mix into kava strainer
7) Twist strainer bag to secure
8) Massage and knead bag until all liquid is filtered
9) Pour kava mix into bucket
10) (Over mixing bowl) Pour kava mix into kava strainer bag
11) Repeat steps 7-9 two more times
12) More triple strained kava mix into clean kava strainer bag over bowl for final strain.

Just bought one of these bags from you on Amazon. I drink about 120 grams, two washes of one gallon each, every day and I've never had a stronger brew. I just tried it your way, by refiltering the brew through the bag a few times and my tongue is so numb it's almost non-existent. Quality stuff, man. :)

@@elijah4929 I've been going steady with 120g/day for about 3 months. Before that, I was doing about half of that and trying out different kava strains since I was still new to this at that time. I'm a recovering addict, so the heavy dosage of kava helps a lot. Another benefit of heavily dosing is the reverse tolerance, you become sensitive much more quickly to the kava when you're taking more of it.

The best source of kava is from Fiji and its now adopted in American farms in Hawaii and California. I believe they are also the largest supplier into the international market in pills, RTDs and powdered sachets. Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, Solomons, Samoa are probably all organic sources also. It’s also their traditional drink and a cultural identity of the pacific.

Man, I’m sure this is great quality kava, but what a pain. You’ve got to dirty up two big bowls, a huge bucket that’s half the size of my kitchen, and the strainer bag, and what about cleaning the thing? I’ll stick with the big tumbler with the AlluBall. Yeah, it makes weak kava, but at least it only takes 30 seconds and I only have one dish to wash.

Apparently emulsified fat like milk or any milk extracts more Kava. Heavily debated though but the theory is Kava's power being in the lactones is an oil and much like other oils don't mix well if at all with water so straining it into a fatty liquid helps the lactones traverse into powder. I myself will shit myself silly like any other pacific islander who drinks milk.

I decided to try straining it this time around, ie yesterday when it came in the mail. It's _way_ less bitter and offers the same effect. The pulp can be used again as well. So, I think the longer way of doing it, ie straining, is going to be my preferred way. Plus it's easier to make a gallon and keep it in the fridge.

@Muse Muser I got a two pack of strainer bags from Amazon for $5.99. Just look up _"2 Pack - 80 Micron Nut Milk Bag - 12X12 Inches"_ on Amazon. As far as a container goes, I used a few Hydroflask thermos's that I washed out with extra hot water. You can use just about anything though. I'm going to reuse a Simply juice jug next time I finish one off. I filled the container(s) with water and poured said water into a mixing bowl, measured out the amount of kava I use into the bag, put on KZread for something to do, and knead the bag in the bowl of water for about 15 minutes. After I'm done and squeeze as much water out as possible I dump the used kava into a container (jar, Tupperware, etc) and put it in the fridge.

@Muse Muser Hey no problemo. Ask away. I started drinking Kava 6-7 years ago because there was a kava bar where I was. So for about a year I never bought/made my own. I've ordered from a couple websites that I don't remember the names exactly. I think one was "Bula House" maybe? I hadn't gotten any for quite awhile up until this year, and I've gotten a few different "brands" off Amazon due to the convenience. The one I've settled on is _"Wakacon KAVA WAKA Powder"_ which runs around $45 a pound.
