Awwww I have 3 frenchies and they are just the best I have coco who is a Merle tanned frenchie then her biological sister beau who is blue but we think she’s a little chocolate as she looks brown in the sun and lastly Freddie who is pied! They are so cute 🥰 ❤

Don't ever breed two merles together ever!!! Make sure they do not carry the gene even if they do not show merle. That puppy looks like it is a double Merle and that can have serious health issues. Breed merles to other colors with no merle in the genes.

From my understanding, Merle is a dominant gene which has a single or double factor(DF is the one with defects). A dominant genes is either visual or not. The dog can’t carry the gene unlike a recessive gene

Merle is dominant...you don't want to breed two merles. You will likely have merle pups but that is never guaranteed.

FYI the merle gene is dominant, not recessive.

@@philobrien5603 A blue coat is a diluted black and a recessive gene. Merle would be dominant over blue and would likely produce merle puppies. If your dog is registered as a merle you may want to have her DNA tested for color.

I thought that the Merle gene is a dominant gene so it only takes one copy of the gene to be a Merle so it would show on the dog the only color coat that won’t show Merle is a cream coat.

You are correct. Merle is a dominant gene and it is always visible in the dog's coat. It can present in a tiny spot of fur that is lighter than the other fur around it but it will be visible. It can even present as a small fleck of blue in one eye.

@@eatyourvegetables2307 That is one fact that a lot of frenchie breeders leave out. The merles are not really purebred. Generations ago someone crossed a chihuahua that was merle with s pure frenchie and likely lied on the AKC registration papers or used s CKC registry (Continental Kennel Club).

Marle is one of those sick dogs like lilac, blue, blue fawn, Black, blue brindle and brown frenchie. They're likely to have some health issues. You should't listen this video, if you want to have health dog.

If a dog doesn't show merle it doesn't have merle it only takes one copy to be visual. It doesn't work the same way as blue, choc and tan points.

From what I know you don’t want a double copy of the Merle gene on your dog. You only need 1 copy and dog would be Merle

Makes me sad seeing so many people turning to breeding dogs for easy cash. Very expensive health issues arise from irresponsible breeders. And more shelter dogs get put down when they are passed over for the new trendy pup. Heart breaking.

How to breed merle french bulldog puppies? Cross them with a chihuahua 🤣...french bulldogs don't have the Merle gene it's been introduced by crossing with chihuahuas but they've bred the chihuahuas out that much ya can't tell anymore
