    I wish you had stopped and shown us your lake house. This video reminded me of me. My doctor plugged a probe into me and told me I wasn't even broke in yet. He said I was more of a 2-stroke than a 4 stroke though with plenty of horsepower left. He also said my prop was a little too big. :)

    So when you are supposed to idle it in gear for 15 minutes are you supposed to pull your anchor as I'm thinking it'll not work on anchor it might try to run over the anchor and if you pull your anchor idling and strong current hits you and the idle is too weak to fight the current, can you gas it to prevent crash, I'm trying to find the best way to do this on sailboat at anchor, at least for the non moving parts 🤔

  • @casualcarolinafishing5835
    @casualcarolinafishing58354 жыл бұрын

    My motor has more idle time on it than anything else. lol I usually let it sit and idle while I'm fishing along the edge for bluegills, that way I can keep moving and sticking. I don't have a trolling motor yet. I also don't know if I've ever had mine to full throttle more than a minute or two total. I found out pretty quick there was next to no difference between 3/4 throttle and full throttle on my motor, so why put the extra wear on it? I still need to take it in for it's first service too. Crazy I know, but I just haven't really been out in the boat that much since I got it. These dang kidney stones are a real pain. In more than one way. Love your boat buddy. That thing looks sweet on the water!💪👍💯

    @@FishinNStuff lol, they are gonna get really board watching me ha ha, just wondering how well they hold up with electronics, I know on a big truck diesel the electronics have neutered them. I am fond of mechanical motors myself primarily for reliability and the ability to so minor repairs on the water. You know pull spark plug clean it up, turn a screw adjust a carb etc...FFC fuel fire and compression.

    You confused me for a sec the cause I saw diesel then spark plug haha , I hear the new outboard are really good , guys are getting over 7000 hours on Suzuki's with no issues. But like anything else , stuff's gonna break sooner or later , the nice part about the computers is they can see what was happening when you were on the water. I remember when I was young taking my car to a mechanic and telling him what it was doing , only to have it never do it while he was driving it lol

    Great show. Great advice. I liked the part when the technician said "it (the program) would tell if you over revved it". Holy shit, as much as these motors cost (about $100 per HP) you would think it would come all broke in, but *more importantly with a rev limiter* .!! If they couldn't program in a rev limiter, I would buy one and wire it in. Good grief. Thank you. Wonderful channel.

    The reason I had to dial my prop in is because it's a custom ordered boat , places like Basspro and Cabelas don't have to do this because they don't sell custom boats they have different kinds but they are pretty much all the same si they know what prop to put on em , the type boat Aluminum, Fiberglass , modV or Vhull will change thing even the eight of the boat and the placement of the console. The motor was on the boat when they got it with my boat so the throttle cable wasn't they're fault , but the thing is you try and get that kind of help with dialing in your boat at Basspro or Cabelas . It ain't going to happen lol . That wad a great Question sorry for the long answer buddy

    Speaking of rpm range and props I could use some advice... I'm currently very underpowered running a 95 yamaha 25 on an old 70s or 80s 16ft fiberglass holds 4 people(me 2 kids and wife). I talked to local dealership and i can't afford to upgrade to real power for now... so I asked about possibly a better prop and they suggested a prop meant for heavy loads. Considering right now flat out is pretty dam slow I'm wondering what running the prop for heavy loads would actually do? Would it be harder on the motor because it has a better bite on the water?

  • @FishinNStuff

    @FishinNStuff

    4 жыл бұрын

    Better bite diyers run your RPMs up , but I wouldn't say it's harder on the motor , normally if you go to a Stainless steel prop you have to go down a pitch size , because like you said a Stainless steel prop bites harder and had less flex , so it rings your RPMs up a little, but I don't think a SS props would benefit you much , I have heard of ppl with smaller outboard going to 4 blade Aluminum props and it helping . But your not going to go faster doing that it'll just help you get on plane faster and easier

    Thanks for the info ... think if I can find a 4 blade I might give that a try as actually getting it to plane right now just ain't happening lol so if a 4 blade could just pop it up there that would be great. Also would trim tabs help raise the back end or would they be less effective at slow speeds?

  • @FishinNStuff

    @FishinNStuff

    4 жыл бұрын

    Im not sure about the trim tabs , a 4 blade or going down on your pitch will help the bottom end and your hole shot . If your not getting on plane your never going to get any speed any ways . Theres dealer should be able to help sounds like he was going in the right direction. The video will help you understand it better too . And the most useful tool for getting the prop right is a tachometer. Dirty about the auto correct mistakes up there lol dang phone lol
