HOW TO BOOST COIL SPRINGS FOR ABOUT $20

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Easy Way To Boost Your Coil Springs For Added Height....This Procedure Is Done After Tires Are Lifted Off Ground. Sometimes the shocks need to be disconnected so coil will open enough for lifter installation. Using plastic ties to keep the boosters in place helps.

    I used these on my 98 park avenue...when the air shocks went out. Keeps the rear end of the car from sagging...but the ride is stiff. Also you wanna be careful on train tracks and pot holes, because they tend to shift if not secured at the bottom. They also work in reverse to lower the car.

    I've had my Corolla professional for a decade its a good vehicle the problem comes when i drive in the gravel road and on dirt road and also over speed humps it is too low and it damages the belly of the car. Luckily I heard of these spacers and installed them. The car now has a good ground clearance although it looks a little abnormal but since i stay in an undeveloped place and its for my daily use to and from work, i must say i can go over anything with ease they saved me a ton of stress

    I had these on all four corners of my07 Malibu to increase ride height. They worked wonders. Did actually change the ride quality for the better. I put new quick struts all the way around ( sorry the 07 sedan has shocks on the rear ) first then did this. I'm about ready to do this with my 08 Buick Lacrosse due to how bad it squats with my boat hooked up. They will only be on during the fishing season. I'll be upgrading the sway bar bushings and end links plus throwing a new set of struts on the back end. No thank you to the roads here in Michigan. Best placement is in the middle to upper coils of the spring.

    @@TheInternalwisdom your welcome. Had to get another vehicle due to a uninsured kid on learner's permit. Totaled out the Buick. My town rig is a Trailblazer. Minimal squat with the boat. Looking into getting it leveled out/lifted. 2 inch in front and only 3/4 in the rear. It will take a 31 inch tire without wheel spacers due to upper ball joint clearance. GM's forward rake is good for fuel economy but hurts the ground clearance. I'm going to slap some on the front for now so I can get back to deer camp without scrubbing the front bumper cover.

    The lifters only lift 1" to 2". The main thing they do is stiffen the ride so you don't get bottoming out of the coils. If you measured the fender clearance for 16" wheels, you should have at least 2" clearance at the top of tire. The control arms won't move more that 1/2" to 1".

    If your coils are very weak, the boosters will just spread the coil in one spot. The boosters should keep the car from bottoming out and going too low. They should give a stiffer ride. I measure the height of the wheelwell before and after the boosters are installed. I've usually got a lift from 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch.

I see some that look the same on Wal- Marts web site just want to be sure. added lowered springs and 2 1/2 drop spindles to my old truck but now its too low one is slightly off...I can turn the spring in the pocket with my hand. I did not know I did not have to do both the drop spindles and the lowered springs...DOH!

    I have 20" on my '92 Camry, and I used the same type metal spacers. I noticed you installed your spacers in the middle of the coil. I have mine on the bottom, the last row of the coil. From the ground to the middle of the fender is about 28" to make it look leveled. I Now, everytime I hit a bump, I feel a lol roll, and it make me nervous like I could lose control of the car. I had the car aligned, and that still didn't resolve the issue. Should I move the spacers more to the middle of the coil to give it more flexibility, when I'm driving, and stop the "roll" effect, or does it really matter where I place them?

  • @kevinmontoya7318

    @kevinmontoya7318

    @dontarucker114 it should fit 20s pretty easily with the smallest tire size being 225 30 20 and a couple of series higher. Maybe 235 30 20 or 225 35 20. Inspect the tires to make sure they have a decent tred. Inspect the dot code and check the age. Old tires may look fine, but they harden like hockey pucks and throw balance off and handling. Inspect and make sure your wheels balance, too. Make sure there are no bends or dents in the wheel. Now, if all that is fine. Check your lugs. Some lugs are different depending on wheels. The cone size and pitch may differ, look at a chart online, and see if your lug nuts and wheels are correct. Hub centric rings will definitely help with vibration at higher speeds at 60-80. If you're rubbing, you can either go with stiffer springs or coil spring boosters to give you a bit of a lift and help with clearing fenders. I've used strut lift blocks and rubber coil boosters. You can find these two at any parts store. That would be the most standard issue with aftermarket wheels.

    I used those on my cadillac bout 12yrs ago. First of all when you hit a bump the the coil spring stretches the adapters will move. They a problem! I stayed having to readjust them do too sliding and moving or coming out. SMH (This is actual fact) I was on the hwy oneday and one in the front flew off from up under the car. I heard a big clunk looked in the mirror and it was the lifter coming out bouncing across the hwy.(SMH) The ones in the back held 3 out of the 4 and one of them came off after awhile. But eventually they rusted out and broke off. It's best to use ties at the bottom to make sure they don't move or fall out To secure them. But It's to much new stuff out now to be using them cheap azz adapters in 2019-2020. Lol
