How to BLEED BRAKES Motorcycle Made EASY - BMW S1000RR ABS GS-911 Tool

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here's how to bleed brakes motorcycle made easy using a BMW S1000RR custom motorcycle with ABS using a BMW GS-911 service tool. This motorcycle brake bleed process on a motorcycle abs system starts with the motorcycle brake bleeding zip tie process overnight to force air up followed by the motorcycle brake bleeding procedure. It goes through brake bleeding motorcycle tasks showing how to bleed disc brakes motorcycle, squeezing the motorcycle brake lever, opening the motorcycle bleeder valve, keeping the brake fluid full all as how to bleed dual disc brakes motorcycle. You can see how to bleed motorcycle front disc brakes and repeat for how to bleed motorcycle rear brakes. Motorcycle ABS brake bleeding can vary between motorcycle manufacturers and models, and so can how to bleed motorcycle brakes with ABS as a result. The motorcycle ABS system on the BMW motorcycle is shown being easily bled with a GS-911 tool to do the motorcycle ABS bleeding and how to bleed brakes by yourself bike.

    @@natecote1971 haven't worked as much in car systems, but for bikes at least, the pumps don't cycle until you activate them, i.e. engage the ABS. let's say there's air in the ABS pumps, and you bleed the external lines, you may not know there's air until you use the abs, and the air from the pump gets in the main system causing sponginess. this is why bmw has this function, cycle the pump, get any air in it out into the system, so you can bleed it with your valves. for the last time i changed the master cyclinder, i didn't have to do this, because the process wasn't introducing air into the pump, just a little air at the top that i easily bled off. In comparison, my aprilia doesn't have this utility in my setup, so for that you bleed everything, go out and hammer the brakes enough to engage abs, that allows any air in the pump to get into the main system, then go bleed it out again.

    Bled the front brake system on my Tenere 700 after swapping brake lines so the new ones were completely dry, not a drop of fluid. Didn't even need to activate the ABS. It's a flow through design. If you can bleed the liquid through the ABS block (from master cylinder to caliper), most likely you don't need to activate the ABS. In your case you have fluid constantly in your system, you are just swapping brake fluid out. No need to do anything with the ABS then anyway.

    my understanding is for fronts too as the ABS pumps carry fluid for both front and rear (linked), so if you do anything anywhere, there could be air trapped in the abs pumps. if you just do a MC change or something, it's easier to get all the air back out at that source. cycling the pumps isn't always necessary, but a good precaution if bleeding the whole system just in case any air is trapped in the pumps.

    a good thorough bleed is absolutely the first thing to try as it's cheap if you do it yourself, and good chance the culprit. if a bleed doesn't fix it, make sure there's no leaks anywhere, and if all that is solid, it might be the master cylinder seals leaking

    @@number1Schumacherfan howdy, correct, this is just to bleed the brakes. it's what you might do periodically as part of maintenance, if you've been riding hard and may have boiled a little fluid, created air, maybe changed the master cylinder or something, but you don't have to completely flush the fluid every time. that's a much more involved process and takes a lot longer. this bike had the flush done when it was converted to '18 guts, so it doesn't need it right now. I'm 99% sure you can't do that with the GS911. Floyd in Dallas installed the RCK software on mine, and I remember him commenting on the tire size adjustment. If you're running stock software, then yes, only BMW could adjust it, if they can w/o charging you several grand for the codes to do it. If you're going to start heading down this path, you might consider the RCK option to allow flexibility in other areas too like accommodating new exhaust, etc.

    I'll hopefully be picking up a low-mileage 2011 s1000rr soon. It's got less than 3k miles and as such, it's been sitting for the majority of it's life. The owner just told me that the brakes are out and showed me a video of him hitting the front brake with the lever going softly all the way to the grip. I'm assuming it got air in the system from sitting for so long. Is this what I'd need to do to be able to ride it (about 400 miles) home? Or is there more of a bandaid fix that I can get away with for the time being?

  • @NoLimitsNoRegrets

    @NoLimitsNoRegrets

    If it were me, that brake system feels too risky to drive it home. if they're that soft/ineffective, that sounds like more than just a little air in the lines. it sounds like it could be something more serious like a failing seal in a master cylinder or caliper, a loose fitting sucking in air, etc. it's likely fixable, but i would strongly suggest you trailer/ship it home, clean it really well, fill up the fluid, try the lever yourself, look for any drips/leaks, then start the process as i laid out in the video. i would get the lever and rear pedal firm first before cycling the abs pumps. the reason is if there's a bunch of air in the lines, get it out first vs. cycling the pumps and getting that air in the pumps. if they're that loose, it's going to take a lot of time. if you just can't get it firm, you have a leak somewhere. if you see fluid by the caliper/lines, that's the leak, if you don't see a leak, it might be inside the master cylinder(s). you really want to make sure it's all working extremely solid before you even try to ride the thing slow around the block.
