How To Bind a Quilt and Use Decorative Stitches

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In today's video, I show you how I add a binding to my quilt. I show you how I measure, cut and attach the binding strips, and then I show you four different decorative stitches for sewing the binding down. I think this is a really nice way to finish a quilt that has had many hours of work put into it.
I will leave links as to where you can buy the items used in the video. Some are available in my shop, and others on Love Crafts, which is an affiliate link, meaning that if you purchase through them, I receive a small amount of commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you.

Another Fabulous Video! I use the same method for binding-- after trying many other methods with various tools & templates. This method is simple & always works. I also use the Fern Stitch (although smaller)most of the time, BUT I have never thought of using what I was taught to call the " Lazy Daisy" Stitch in a Herribone pattern--Just Brilliant! I am going to try that. Thanks Emma!

The overlapping binding method looks much easier than doing a diagonal join with the two ends - I must definitely try your method! Also I love your use of decorative stitches to secure the binding.I wonder if you could talk about how you deal with all your scraps in your Q and A session? Do you keep everything or scraps bigger than, say,1 1\2 inches? Do you neaten them or prepare them in any way for future projects?. Thank you very much for such an informative video.

Super tutorial, your work is real heirloom stuff, outstanding. I do a lot of cross stitch but adore the different stitches for edgings, cant wait to try this on my quilting and patch work. I have a very old night cap (I don't wear it 😂) which is hand made with beautiful crochet trim, it has been hand stitched all around the seams and I just look at the work so delicate and tiny, I think it's fern stitch. Very informative, thank you Emma, I will certainly refer back to this when I ever manage to actually finish a quilt. :) I am interested to hear more about a fabric swap and what is entailed. I have binge watched all of your videos since watching the quilt as you go hexagons. I've started making these, for an 'I spy' quilt for our baby granddaughter. I've loved making them and I expect this to be the first quilt I do finish! But, as every hexagon has been fussy cut, I've already spent a lot of £'s on fabric. So I would be happy to swap some of my fabrics, if anyone else would be interested? Thank you for all of your content, I am hooked. :)

Another fabulous video Emma - they mesmerise me! I am in love with the Liberty fabric on the back of the quilt. The whole quilt is beautiful. Looking forward to your Q&As video. My question would be, did you feel daunted when you started a new craft - ie. crochet, embroidery? I know you said your grandmother taught you from a young age, but I am starting out late in life and feel so nervous as to where to start. I tend to spend more time watching how to do it, than actually starting and doing it myself. Am I the only one to feel this way? Best wishes from Lottie in Suffolk.

Your binding fabric is beautiful so smooth. Very pretty joined edge of the binding, it is so much easier and professional. I have a question, how do you mark your needle for your measured stitch, is it nail polish?
