Great channel! I was surprised, i honestly thought the role involved significant amount of coding but as you said it depends on the organisation itself just like those two AI first company examples

Interesting, as an app support professional moving toward being an SRE is a lucrative next step. Your course looks ideal to get me there more quickly .

Hello Adama, your both channels have impacted me alot😊. Please, how did you get to the point where you were sure that SRE was the field for you since you only had a background in geography which is not related to SRE, or did you just pick randomly? I have a degree in biotechnology, I thought about doing data science (bioinformatics) but I don't like the fact that it's crowded, most people are training to be data scientists in Nigeria where I'm from. it's scary and I don't really like going where "everyone" is going. And the last thing (for now😊), do you think your location has favoured your career growth being an SRE? I'm currently in Nigeria and it won't be wise to be trained in a field that no company even knows they need services in yet. Thank you 😊

Hey, I’m happy to hear that! I stumbled into SRE tbh it wasn’t a calculated plan. But when I heard about it I loved the sound of the working on different things and drawing on different skills and tools. I think you should let your interests and skills lead you. Naturally there’s an upside of entering a les crowded market but also it’s likely trending for a reason (data engineering). I think in certain countries the SRE role is more mature and recognised which helps with progression and opportunities. You don’t have to start with SRE but there’s multiple things to consider like remote SRE work and acc being one of the first to fill the demand if/when these roles increase in Nigeria. It’s really down to both what you see yourself doing, the skills and demand of the market you want to work in and your short vs long term aspirations 😊
