How long this course is

The video is right about the internship thing. I now work as a Data Analyst in a Fortune 50 company. I joined as an intern and got a job offer even in this pandemic. In my 6 months paid internship I had to learn SQL, Power BI and Tableau and a little bit of Python. Since I am not from a coding background, I also had to learn some basics. Also good communication skills is a must. It's definitely a carrier opportunity to look forward to. All the best to everyone looking for one.

@@akshadaphadtare8466 It's very subjective as to what kind of questions will be asked. They will definitely check that you have good communication skills and a good knowledge of RDBMS. If you don't have work experience they will probably not ask you about BI softwares. Although it's better to have some idea.

I'm a data analyst II for a healthcare company with a Business Admin Degree, I've been in a data analyst role for 5-6 years and my base pay is 78K plus bonuses. Lots of Excel, SQL, SSAS and Power BI/Tableu skills needed along with presentation skills. I am hoping to move into an analytics manager or data engineer/architect role for my next big jump.

@@ProjectLeslie Right now for automation, my team uses SSIS for ETL or we build reports in Visual Studio to deploy into MS Reporting Services for paginated subscription reports. I do not use Python... YET.

The core competition for data analyst is not technical skills, but the understanding of business. Each number, code, string we see in the table, must represent a business fact, no matter how strange it is. DA should bridge these digits to the real world. @@manoloblanco5240 It has data analyst, data engineer and data science tracks. Some of the modules overlap but it's nice because they start from fundamentals and it's project based so you learn with real data.

You can also get into a good Data Analyst role with a Business Administration, Accounting, and Economics degree as well. Also if you have a Masters in Business, Economics, Math etc. will help you advance as well. I am currently and Senior Data Analyst and i got in with my Bachelor's degree in Finance, and I have a MBA in Management and that has helped me advance in my current company.

Muazzam Hussain Choudhury Nashat while in college I took some computer science courses that included SQL Database, SAS, and Python. I also took some math courses such as statistics, Linear equations and calculus to help with logic and building algorithms. I am in the US.

Great video that clear explains at a high level what an actual Data Analyst does. I would say that you should always take the salary numbers with a pinch of salt (it put me off in the beginning). I blame this on incorrectly described job titles feeding in wrong salary data i.e. data entry is not a data analyst. The field of data analytics is still young and a lot of people at all levels are not familiar with what the data analyst skills are. You will see lots of jobs advertising for data analyst roles but read the job specs as it could mean anything. I actually got hired in for a contract skill set

Hey! If some one is not familiar with programming skill but go for data analyst course to learn, will he/she will be able to learn all programming skills in that course or he/she has to learn programming first and then have to apply for course and then job.?

Where could I start freelancing as a data analyst? I am interested in small jobs, with small payments, for starters. I have a background education in Statistics and I also use Python/SPSS.

Some ideas are: 1. Google freelancer websites (two common ones are upwork and freelancer) and bid on projects there. 2. Go to job sites like glassdoor and indeed and look for remote jobs for data analysts. 3. Google companies that hire remote data analysts, then look them up on LinkedIn and find who the hiring managers are. 4. Contact small companies (in your area or online) and offer to do data analysis projects for them. 5. Ask friends if they can recommend you for freelance work. 5. Set up a simple website with sample projects you've worked on, then use ads on Facebook and LinkedIn to bring people to your site and hopefully get work offers. (There also free ways to market your site and yourself: write blog posts, create videos, etc. and link them back to your site.) The most important thing is to start to truly see yourself as a problem solver. Right now you have an important problem: how do you find work? Imagine that you had to use your skills to solve that problem. You're your own client now. 😊 Also, ask yourself what kind of person would you hire if you had a problem you wanted solved? I'm thinking that you want someone who's smart, curious, takes initiative, etc. Be that kind of person. 😊 Best wishes.

I would suggest start learning Microsoft excel and sql! When it comes to theory, learn basic stats.. If you feel that you are doing good, learn a visualization tool like tableau!! I was able to learn tableau and sql in 6 months learning for about 3 to hrs a day. From there I was able to move a business intelligence role from a product support analyst role. Couple of other things that I learnt through my way, Python, PowerBI, Salesforce Einstein Analytics.. Start today and I year or two you l be in a very better space

@@N0URii I think degree doesn't affect to this job if we have the skillset required. In my country, a Data Analyst doesn't measure from the MBA or B.Sc or what other degrees one has, but from the evidence or project accomplished in certain area of data science such as statistics, data analytics, familiarity with AMOS or Minitab, etc.

$57k in the USA and £23k in the UK for no experience ? What exchange rate are you using ? $57k is £43k and £23k is $29k. Where I believe the £23k for the UK for under 25 years olds I don't believe £43k for UK entry level job. Although I have no Data analysis or Scientist proven track record or qualifications, my role as Platform support engineer for direct advertising marketing and data collection in the television industry has shown data analysis entry level is offering £50k.

My question is where do you start? Especially if you've been out of school for over 7 years and have forgotten _most_ of your outdated statistics analysis skills...

There is a paid apprenticeship program partnered with the U.S. Dept. of Labor being launched in my area. It's part online & classroom cousework and on-the-job training. You only need an associates degree or military service to qualify. I hope I get selected.

If you had a lot of statistics it will help you . Fine tune your technical skills to data analytics. You ve got to put strong initial effort in there. There are tons of good tutorials. The first job is the hardest to get. Any internship, thesis and courses will help. Combine that with your domain knowledge in economics. Poke around in job platforms what is needed. Select the area you are most interested in. Economics and Data Analytics can definitly fit good.

Eh not unless you have some provable experience and results on your resume to show off. Also depending on what your degree is for communications it may not play in. I would look into see what certifications you can get as well as take some business classes as well just so if you can land an interview you can show you have something even better than a degree you have critical thinking ability and the skills to solve the problems they need solvrd
