If you set the dash to the left bumper aka L1 or whatever it's called on the switch it makes dashing sooooo much easier especially with the shooting, charging, and all that other jazz idk how it affects the neon jump in the other games but Left button or bumper or 1 been using as the dash since SNES! Try it yo!

Did you know that a strat you could use in this game allows you to have intimate relationships with every single pit of spikes in the game without getting a single game over? I always did Storm Eagle's stage 2nd too. You get the helmet earlier, then you can get the capsule and subtank in Flame Mammoth's stage first time you go, so it's nice. As I got older, I also realized that Storm Tornado is the best weapon in the game, so...

I personally do it 3rd, going to Sting Chameleon 2nd so I get all the upgrades in a row. The boss fight isn't super easy but having the chest upgrade that early on is really nice for damage boosting or just not dying in general

I always did Storm Eagle first! I would go grab the dash from Chill Penguin's stage and then leave and do Storm Eagle, Flame Mammoth, and then back to the penguin. I always found him to be the easiest boss with the buster.

I used to play this once a week as a mental health measure. Great game. Funny where men can find comfort?

When I was young I thought that this was the way the game intended you to do it

you have to stand to the left of the light pole on the first level to quickly trigger the vile fight, if you to the right of it the cars spawn from the ship for a long time

I always thought that Dash was in a completely uncomfortable location, so I always reassign it to R1 I know some prefer L but R is just superior.

It's weird, because as a kid, I never switched the inputs, and did quite well playing the whole series. But since buying LC and LC2, for some reason, it's painful to playing with the default controls. I too switch it now.

I always switch Super Metroid's controls to MMX-style

I don't know how much stronger a charged shot from the X buster is compared to the normal shot, but I can't imagine that back to back charged shots do more damage than just shooting it normally.

There's a cool rom hack called Capsule Remix that starts you off with dash boots, making the leg parts be air dash instead. It also makes the leg upgrade optional so you can actually skip it by choice. It also makes the hadouken appear right away as long as you have everything.

put r1 (rb) as dash buttom and r2(rt) for replacing r1. that way dashing is easy and fast and no need to worry about comfort.

The dash shot is a feature, Using on certain battles you can get a quicker fight... Can be useful on a Speedrun.

3:24 actually you can die in that fight if you really want to. I was jumping into vile one time and I kept doing it even after I only had like one health point. I accidentally dodged all the orbs vile was shooting at me and jumped into vile and died on accident lol.

You CAN die in the first Vile fight. His AI isn't great, so sometimes he kills you even though he's not trying to.

i call it the "nostalgia route" when you run the same route you did as a kid. my mm2 nostalgia route starts with crashman btw lmao.

My MM2 nostalgia root starts with Woodman. Granted, I first played MM2 on an old mobile port that lessened the difficulty a bit, so it's very hard to recreate on authentic MM2.

Here is a question for all the Mega Man X experts. On the Super Nintendo Capcom used a code for Street Fighter 2 Turbo, which allowed you to boost the speed beyond normal. If you plug this code into Mega Man X it would make a chime but I never saw a discernible change in the game. To activate the code you had to input: Down R Up L Y B When you saw the capcom logo. I’ve wondered about this since the game came out. Can anyone shed some light on why that happens and if it is a code of sort; what does it do?

Don't the dash boots break blocks too when climbing them?

A more comfortable way to dash is to set your thumb horizontally across X and B, and rock your thumb back and forth to hit X and A.

You can in fact be killed by Vile in the first fight. It just takes a lot of work, and isn't worth the reset

59:00 - RE: this drop-table thing, I think it's only MM2 that does this. I remember that murdering birdlets with the leaf shield could spew out more 1-ups than the game could render before they practically all disappeared. I think this is one of those bugs like the pause-velocity-reset glitch that they fixed by #3.

Storm Eagle was the first stage I ever played and the first Maverick I ever beat. I didn't have much of a problem beating him. I brute-forced my way through. I didn't even know at the time that there were any powerups scattered throughout the stages.

Mandrill is no joke if you go at him without shotgun ice. I know you can get at least a couple of sub tanks and heart containers right from the get-go to help.

My favorite maverick in this one is Storm Eagle. I usually go after the Flame Mammoth first (he is automatically last anyway when you go to the maverick gauntlet in the Sigma fortress ) and go in weakness order from there just so he is at least last in that first run of Mega Man X mavericks. The other benefit is you also get Chill Penguins and Armored Armadillos heart tank with relative ease having the Flame Thrower weapon early on as it destroys that mechznical boring vehicle in Armored Armadillos level very quick. Obviously the con is you don't have the Tornado Blast from Storm Eagle to take out those sea monster enemies in the Launch Octopus level. You take your wins where you can find them in this case.

I was wondering why storm tornado was rated so low on the best weapons list, but now I see you're just not using it lol It shreds pretty much every miniboss and enemy that has a lot of health. I highly recommend your start using it. Fire wave does that too, but its range isn't as good.

you can die to vile by running into him you will start the fight over so really its waste of time, also speed runners take enough damage to make vile shoot the electric shot right away, lastly his mech doesnt have hp it cant be killed. ik i tried to kill it by using AI manipulation in the first fight and hadoken in the second nether worked. dashless is possible in the regular stages, idk about the simga ones, kid me didnt want to try after doing the others without it. mega man x was the first mega man game i played and was the first game that was mine at the time when all others were shared so i played it more then any other.

I hate how people always refer to these games as "X", instead of 10, like it's supposed to be.
