First, I take a deep breath, take some shots for practice and testing the best camera angles, learn from those shots and make the real shots, watch it, do it again, and again, and again.

Nice tips and perfect timing. Any tips on facial transplant? Lol. I finally JUST filmed my very first video showing my face, I have to edit it of course and hopefully upload it, we'll see. It's also a bit harder for me not being a native english speaker and just using a tablet to film, but you know what? I think I'll get it out there. Thank you!!

Our tip: finish sentences. So many times, we start a thought and interrupt ourselves or trail off or want to start a new take immediately. Then later when we are editing, we discover that the thought was complete if only we just ended the sentence and smiled! So my tip is always to finish the thought before starting a new take. You'll often recover, and you won't feel the little stumbles so much. -E

My tip....just do it! For years I have avoided cameras. When I made my first video tutorial (just one month ago) I hid behind the camera all the time and wrote narration for it. I couldn’t even cope with hearing my voice. I became increasingly aware that I would have much better success and more rapport with the viewers if they could actually see me so one day I gave myself a good talking to, stopped making excuses and made a short video IN FRONT of the camera. It was hard, it was scary but I did it, I didn’t edit or retake and I uploaded it straight away. I got so much support I was shocked. I felt liberated and had so much more confidence- instantly! Now I am in my videos every time and although I’m still a bit awkward I can see the improvement in every single video. Sorry to waffle! So again, my tip is, stop making excuses and dive right in. Thank you for your tips, I’m going to try the photograph one.

I originally started doing KZread to show my kids what I was up to on my time off when I was working away. I have always tried to be relaxed by thinking no-one will probably ever see this video, so if it is not perfect that is ok.! This is a lot easier to implement when I am doing a travel or #adventurechallenge type video, but when I am going face to camera, that's when trying to make it perfect seems more important and I put more stress on myself when I stuff up. I am trying to only do 3 takes of a passage or section in the latter cases, otherwise it can feel forced. Thx heaps for the tips btw. I will def try them out.

Talk to the camera like you’re having a casual conversation with your friend. You aren’t live (unless you’re live-streaming) when you’re recording so no one is watching you in that moment. You or your editor can cut out your mistakes or unnecessary sentences. Focus on your content and the points you want to make. If you’re worried or nervous then you’re not focusing on your content and your area of expertise. Take a deep breath, hold it, exhale. And begin. You got this 🎉

Think about the one person Be in the right mood Practice your content with someone else. These are such great tips. I also use the HONEST Framework I've created to help me structure my videos. I draw it out on a A3 paper and place it on the wall behind my camera. This keeps me organised and structured on what I'm saying. I get more confidence using this. 😊

This is why I subscribe and turn on notification to this (and other channels); the fact that you share tips on not only the deep techie stuff but also basic info on how to present self. I am improving on my videos but initially I would get heart palpitations whenever I thought of being infront of a camera. As a result, I would sweat, my voice would shake so bad I would barely recognize myself, and as much as I would have prepared my content perfectly, my body (and mind) would fail me. I am still a long way off being super confident infront of a camera (especially in public) but when alone I feel a bit better. I will try these tips over and over again until I am on good with the camera

Not to say guys don’t have trouble with being self conscious about their physicality as well, but the bit about ladies having a harder time with that feels soooo accurate. I’ve seen it, and lived it. From a take being good but there being stray strands of hair, slightly smudged eyeliner or imperfect brows, we can be so hard on ourselves and pick every little thing apart. Love that Chalene says she doesn’t even watch herself back so she can just keep moving forward. Great video and tips!

Agreed, I notice I improve with each video, and that's huge. Listening to criticism helps a ton as well!

I actually do write a script. I don’t follow it word for word but it helps me with segues and sequence, and keeps my thoughts clear.

This is so helpful! I just started my youtube channel and have been wanting to improve my camera presence! A tip I have is to be energized when you make your videos! I find that if I've gotten enough sleep and had some tea or coffee before I'm in a much better and happier mood for a video and the video comes out a lot better than if I had been tired!

These are good tips. I like the idea of having one person in mind when talking in video.

Ugh, I needed to hear this. I just pressed record today and was being so critical of myself. I got so discouraged because I didn’t think I looked pretty. But that was not the case at all! I need to just do it and relax and follow these tips!!

I re-watch my stuff all the time, and the biggest confidence buster for me has been knowing what I'm talking about. Great tips and I'm gonna pass on getting drunk first, but the rest was pretty good, I'm gonna do those.

Great ideas! What I like to do is to use my confidence relax anchor I have created for myself. I just take a deep breath, forget everything else, say to myself just do it and I start talking. Thanks for the great vid :)

Thank you ladies for these tips. I’ve been struggling to push out content because I know my on camera presence is rough. Let me go put on some makeup and get these talking shots done. How do I motivate myself before shooting? Watching vids like this! 👏🏾
