Sam has taught me his fighting game tips 1-on-1, and as someone who used to only play fighting games with button mashing, I know his advice is good! Thanks for the great guide!

One more thing! Don't look at tier lists as a be all end all. They can range from being based on tournament results to top level theoretical play and shouldn't be looked at as your first go-to for choosing a character, or even picking from a few characters to try out at first. Remember: you'll do better with a character that you love that fits YOU over trying to make someone you don't care about or doesn't fit your playstyle work.

Ya know when writing the video I planned to talk about Tier Lists especially since they are so common outside of FGs today, but when I sat down to write I completely forgot hahaha

One tip for improvement that I didn't see mentioned: when you finish a set, make sure to review match footage, and take stock especially of any moments that swung a match in one person's or another's favor, and analyze what moves your opponents like to use, especially if you fight the same character played by multiple different people. Knowing your own toolbox is great, and adding the knowledge of what situations to avoid when playing certain characters can often be the edge to clutch out a match.

Watching your replays is super important! I know Strive auto saves the last ~50 odd games so you don’t even have to use a capture card!

@@TurnstyleVideo 100, I think, but yeah, it's a feature every FG worth it's salt should have as QOL

You're absolutely right. I'm terrible, but when my brain starts to see a match as an RPG or a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors, those are the ones I'm able to win or do well in! Loved your editing too. It caught my real attention fast, was informative, and showed off your personality and humor really well. Great stuff, man!
