Some houses are messy for good reason! My mother raised 8 kids whilst my father worked his fingers to the bone to provide for us. Our house was *always* a complete mess, but because of my amazing parents we had such a wonderful childhood. God bless you & yours ❤

Thank you again for this, Bishop Barron. This got me thinking about a phrase that Fr. Spitzer used to say... and that it not just to “will the good of another” but to work to “make an optimal positive difference in the lives of all that I come in contact with today.” That later has been on my mind nearly daily since hearing him speak of it. Oh, have I failed miserably at that attempt, yes, but... I try to return to it as soon as I can. 💞

For us bishop, it’s stasis, we honor the father and the son by acts of stasis in others, as if it were our own. In an earthly sense, I define love as, loyalty, preference and devotion. And I define loyalty as, taking ones stasis on as your own. So your advice is amazing and resonates with us as well.

Its always good to love and care for others, but some people make it hard because, they are cold, mean, and hurt people. We are told to love ourselves, but not put ourselves above others like you only matter. So it goes, treat others as you would want to be treated. I do believe there is a complex interplay of how one loves depending on one's vocation. That is that some are called to love in a very self sacrificial way, but some must love in a way that also models to others how you love them by showing how to also care for the self in a way that can be imitated. Self care is a part of dignity which all people have a right to, and this fact is what makes those who are giving of themselves to the point of their own degradation so extraordinary. Like those who fast so much their health fails and so on.

Look at it this way! Everybody says they want to be in Heaven yet who only resides in Heaven with God and His angels? The saints just as Bp. Barron describes! If you can’t be a saint because you’re too busy being self-absorbed to will the good of others then you can’t be in Heaven because you won’t fit in and be happy! But that means there’s only one other place and that’s Hell where you will suffer with the other self-absorbed narcissists including the demons whose apathy and antipathy will bring misery to themselves and each other very much resembling here on Earth but it’s far more intense and it’s eternal! We are told to love ourselves, but not put ourselves above others like you only matter. So it goes, treat others as you would want to be treated. "Habitually" willing the good of the other: a very Aristotelian presentation of being holy.
I do believe there is a complex interplay of how one loves depending on one's vocation. That is that some are called to love in a very self sacrificial way, but some must love in a way that also models to others how you love them by showing how to also care for the self in a way that can be imitated. Self care is a part of dignity which all people have a right to, and this fact is what makes those who are giving of themselves to the point of their own degradation so extraordinary. Like those who fast so much their health fails and so on.

Now adays people dont know what love is, we have been brainwashed to think love is a good feeling, or its sex, or doing whatever you want to do as long as its not hurting anyone.Most often Love is hard , it hurts, and it takes alot of time and patience. Growth, care, sacrifice and boundries.

No that is not true.
Look at it this way! Everybody says they want to be in Heaven yet who only resides in Heaven with God and His angels? The saints just as Bp. Barron describes! If you can’t be a saint because you’re too busy being self-absorbed to will the good of others then you can’t be in Heaven because you won’t fit in and be happy! But that means there’s only one other place and that’s Hell where you will suffer with the other self-absorbed narcissists including the demons whose apathy and antipathy will bring misery to themselves and each other very much resembling here on Earth but it’s far more intense and it’s eternal! Choose wisely!
I want to be a saint by living in love with Jesus Christ and my brothers and sisters ❤
