Thanks for the tip of using cable ties to hold rolls of wire together and so know which way is up. Great idea!

Good day Tim, thank you for the video. Do you have any advice on how to divide a coil into 2 coils (besides don’t attempt it! 😀)

  • @FarmLearningTim

1; Don't attempt it, 2; don't attempt it, 3; if you really must, use two spinners, one to wind off and one to wind on. 4; don't attempt it. You can buy smaller coils you know.....

Hey Tim, Hows it going? Just a quick question re farm gates. If I was to purchase a 10 foot or 3 metre gate, how much extra do I need to allow between the pine posts for the hinges etc? Regards Shayne, Loch Sport

So every so often I’ll have a 4000 foot roll of wire. I might be halfway through the roll and all the sudden the loops get tangled amongst each other almost like the bottom coils are trying to pull through the other coils while you are unrolling the role can you explain that? Also, it looks like your fence wire is rolled differently than ours from the top down to the bottom or vice versa whereas our roles seem to be rolled, started on the inside to the outside.

I’ve had that problem before when I’ve had a coil in the Ute for a long time. Usually a good spinner can cope though. That’s when the pro units with a spooling guide pay for themselves. They can cope with discombobulated coils. Interesting about your coiling. Maybe your guys do it on a drum? Our guys do it on a form so that even if you put pressure on the coil it’s top down as it comes off.

Why did this show up in my feed? Tomorrow I’m actually installing my first fence using one of these wire spinners. Not only is big tech monitoring our activities, they’re reading our minds. LOL
