Theres this script called SCAM that looks really cool, haven't gotten around to using it tough. It allows you to use multiple mining drones on one ore job and the drones automatically check how deep they need to mine and when there isnt anything to mine anymore. I think it's a really cool script that is very rarely used. Thanks for the tips tough!

SCAM is just over a year old, while PAM is years old. Might be why PAM is used more. SCAM is also a bit trickery to set up

I wasn't expecting much from a video of this length, but I am pleasantly surprised to see a super basic PAM use case - most guides for it try to cover too much and end up scaring people off it, I feel. As for other methods, though, there are so many... I've been amusing myself with a small fleet of mining drones which deploy from a foreman/carrier, pass-through mine the asteroid it's facing, and then return to unload their cargo. It's inefficient, but it's fun to watch. One fun thing I made the other day was a gravity powered bore drill. It only has one event controller that shuts the drills off when the cargo is nearly full and activates the beacon to let me know it's ready. It's really just drills, cargo, batteries, and a gyro on override to keep it upright aside from that. I've been meaning to program a courier drone to respond to that beacon automatically but I haven't gotten around to it.

That sounds very cool! The concept of having a beacon go off when the cargo is full is something I never considered before, Im trying to think of other ways you could implement some kind of notification.

@@Wyzmar I used to use Keezlelabs (I think I spelled that right, the guy with the automine script everybody uses) transmit and receive script to start drones, amongst a great many other things. There are very few other ways which are practical than beacon/antenna signals. Beacons, in particular, work well because the AI blocks support paths relative to a beacon.

Do you have a mod on your drills? I tried this coast-mine with the same spacing as the miner you used and it leaves behind shafts of voxel between the drills that stop the miner at the depth of the drill?

Yes, I use tiered drills on my miner, however the concept is the same.

When using pam, How do you get that box in front of your ship to show the mining area?

You can also coast-mine by turning off inertial dampening, assuming you're doing this in space.

can work, but it's not a a good solution. As all your thrusters do not react and adjust you when you even slightly bump into voxels, even the tiniest bit, your miner will tangle around instead of moving perfectly forward, resulting in damage more likely setting up the reverse group so easy, every ship should have that. Mine have, all of them.

​@@Thorufangon AI blocks cannot do everything PAM offers, but you can certainly setup an auto-miner somewhat similar to PAM, either on a planet or in space.

In your toolbar, you have different images and texts, such as "All on" for your drills icon. How do you achieve that? Is it a mod? If yes, do you have the link?

So to turn all drills on, you make a group selecting all drills. From there you take that group and add it to your hot bar.
