I have the 161T for over 2 years, have used and abused it beyond manufacturers recommendation so far this litle saw never fail, even I have all batteries from AP200 to AP500S very much on this litle saw with a 30cm bar I always use the AP200. I have also the GTA26, 220C and the MSA300, attending at is class I think the 161T is the best.

@@sirvozelo1I have been looking for a top handle saw for occasional pruning etc and small jobs so would you recommend the 161 or would the petrol 151 be better?

@@mattseymour8637 Hello. I use to have the Stihl 194 gas powered and it was good but after I buy the 161T few months later I sold the 194, I find out the 161T to be more convenient. My only complaint with Stihl is the batteries price and I have all from AP200 to AP500S. I also have the MSA300, 220C, GTA26 and the Trimmer 135. The 161T I am quite sure I have test it way beyond manufacturing recommendation and so far in 3 years this little saw never fail, it comes with a 25cm bar I change for 30cm and is perfect. Also the best battery for this saw is the AP200 however it just because of weight and balance. In regard to chargers I have the AL101 and the AL500, spend little more money but totally disregard the AL101. Anything else you'd like to know you can ask me any time.

@@sirvozelo1Thanks for the detailed reply. So between the petrol and the Battery you would recommend the 161 for occasional pruning and use and convenience. When using the AP 200 or Ap300 battery what is the run time when light pruning?

@@mattseymour8637 I have both AP200 and AP300 I always start with AP200 because of weight and the saw feels better balanced on the hand, I really never pay attention to time because I have other batteries handy but you may got about 40 or 45 minutes cutting time depends on the kind of wood and chain sharpness, you be surprised how long you cut. If you go with a bigger battery pay attention to the oil chain, you be running out of oil before you run out of battery. Normally I use the AP300 as a back up for the 161T and for the MSA220C in witch I normally use the AP300S, on the MSA300 and on the Trimmer 135 I normally use the AP500S, but in the case of finishing a job I use what ever I have charged in either machine. In the machine that batteries size have a greater difference is on the MSA300 because in this one in order to go full power and speed the AP500S is a must with all other batteries sure it work but only in the lower speed. For light pruning if you have 2 AP200 I am not sure if you not got tiered before you run out of batteries power. However don't got me wrong for I not know what your health fitness is. I am just a home owner I am not a mechanical expert or in anyway trying to sale Stihl but I have used this machines very heavily, in particular for this kind of a job you mention I seriously doubt if you find anything on the market better and more reliable than the Stihl 161T with AP200 and a 30cm bar. For sure you be surprised with this little saw reliability and performance. Also working in light pruning with two AP200 batteries and the AL charger 500 connected to a power outlet you may go all day, by the time you finished with one battery the other one with be already charged. It is little more expensive but for the 161T is better invest in 2 AP200 versus 1 AP300. Also as I mention before in regard to charger go with AL500. If you find anything else I may can assist in regard to my personal experience feel free to ask.
