How to Argue with a Talking Chihuahua

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Little Rio wants goodies. His mama thinks he has had enough treats. Here is the conversation.
Please be aware that, even though the 2 security cameras did not catch all of the interaction between them, this video is as faithful to the full event as possible.

This is so cute. I love that Catnip and cookies is a mixup! Honestly, if English is not your first language it’s not that hard to imagine how that could happen. 😅

I’m seriously thinking about starting my cat on this… just have to figure out the floor space to do it as I’m living in a very small home. Added possible issue: everything she learns, she puts her own spin on and teaches the dogs. I don’t mind her teaching at all… it’s the own spin bit I’m wondering about! So far she’s taught them to hunt for her, to help her open any door she wants, to bring her anything she wants, and more. Picture yourself wanting to play fetch with your dogs… they fetch all right but bring the ball to the cat instead. Every. Single. Time. No exceptions. Ever (well, except in obedience class).

Sounds like your cat would become quite the little mob boss with some loyal dog henchmen XD I've never had dogs, but as a lifelong cat owner I would be curious if an opinionated cat with buttons would use them to order the dogs around, or if they'd rely on whatever body language they use for interspecies communication normally and only use the buttons to talk with humans.

@@helenanilsson5666 - She would be a ruthless mob boss indeed! She rules the roost, even has them sit at some little critter’s burrow for hours until it comes out. They’ll catch it and she’s the one who then either moves in for the kill, or the one to bring home the spoils of the hunt. 🙈 Whenever something is out of her reach because she lacks the strength she’ll fetch her henchmen to move the obstacle out of her way. On the other hand she’s a generous boss as she’ll share her surplus. My sweet robber queen has been known to steal my pot roast, carry it off, and then share it with the dogs (who’ll patiently wait for what she’ll allow them to have). I’ve witnessed how she taught them to hunt for vermin by bringing them first dead prey, then wounded, and finally live prey and give them headbutts and purrs in praise when they did well. We live out in the country so rodents abound. She’s territorial and whenever a creature comes into ‘her’ yard she’ll work with the dogs to chase it off. I’ve never had to fear foxes or ferrets preying on my chickens (sorry: her chickens!) as all three of my rascals will chase them off. They’re quite a surprising combination to many: a tiny, elegant and seemingly ladylike European Shorthair, an American Staffordshire Terrier, and a Chihuahua. I wouldn’t be surprised if she used the buttons not just to command me to do her bidding, but the dogs as well. I believe that should her royal highness ever condescend to the use of the buttons, she’d quickly see their potential towards more efficient power over the dogs.

Don't expect the words to be what you want them to be. Of course you will try to teach them the real meaning, but since they have little to work with, they will use them for adjecent meanings also. Like a lot of animals on youtube use "I love you" as thank you and I like what you did and so on. Her putting her spin on it will make it better, you will need to be understanding though.

@@mycatscantalk Oh that's even smarter!!! My thought came from the fact that I have mostly small and toy breeds, and my puppies are pretty much raised on cat toys, most of which have catnip in them, because it's pretty difficult to find toys small enough for 1 and 2 lb babies. As such, my dogs like the smell of catnip. Even the ones I didn't raise like the smell, lol. But to associate a treat with catnip because they're in a similar container is genius!!!!

John 3.16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Mark 1.15 15 and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. Jesus Christ saves repent and follow him today

If Koko couldn't properly communicate with humans none of these videos really feel good. It just seems like animals are being attributed human reactions and thoughts which they simply are not really showing or thinking.

You have to remember that Koko was a gorilla. She communicated like a gorilla! We are not trying to anthropomorphize our pets. We are just giving them an additional way (besides body language and various squeaks, meows, grunts and barks) to communicate. No one expects them to respond in the same way a human would. But the things they choose to say--this has really opened my eyes!!
