How to Aquascape with Marco Rock - Guide to build an amazing negative space rock structure

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

I am really proud of this aquascape I have built to go through the center of my big new dream reef tank. It complements my existing rock structure and provides heaps of room for corals, caves, arches, water-flow and looks amazing!

    lmao that cat scared me when it jumped up on the tank. These vids got me inspired to scape my nano tank.

    That smoke and odour from the chemical reaction is fricking potent! Highly recommend very good ventilation, and even some air movement with a fan or something, if spending a couple hours building these. Looking good!! 👌

    I used this technique too. Very strong and very easy. I made an accelerant out of RO and bicarb which I sprayed on with a spray bottle.

    Great aquascape. Do you have any concern with the actual applying and pressing frags into place. Some ares like the suspended bridge that comes downward but not supported might be touchy to press / glue / putty a frag or colony into place.

    Naa not issue at all, both pieces have a tripod base construction so are very stable, and the glue bonds are stronger than the rock itself... so far iv glued dozens of frags down onto it with putty/super glue combo and its been fine

    I see the thin CA glue is readily available, as is the accelerator. However, I do like your method to use sand and glue as it does not require a second coat to "pretty" it up. What type of sand are you using, does it have the accelerator in it? Thanks for the great video!

  • @ReefNerd

    @ReefNerd

    The sand is the rock I am using... ground up with a mallet. So its perfectly seamless as its the exact same material :) I did not use any form of accelerator, wasnt necessary

    I didn't go with this negative space approach as I like boulders of rock. I actually used superglue, baking soda and then super glue activator. Process is simple, superglue, baking soda on the glue, out some more glue ..place the rock and then spray activator. It will just heat up and you can hear the sizzle and within seconds, done. So for those who don't have Marco rock powder, just use baking soda, superglue and an activator spray. Cheap, gets the job done and works

    It has to be extremely thin superglue, like water, any thick or gel style glue will not work

    @@ReefNerdcan I use just regular household superglue as long as it’s thin enough? Or even gorilla glue? (because you can get gorilla glue in crazy big bottles).

  • @ReefNerd

    @ReefNerd

    10 ай бұрын

    @@loadedgullloadedgull2991 The technique used in my video requires pure cyanoacrylate glue with a consistency close to water. You cannot use any glue with a 'gel' consistency as it will not flow into the rock properly. I could be wrong but I believe gorilla glue is not cyanoacrylate and is instead a polyurethane based glue? Check the label carefully.
