@Harolddespui

You'll need some very fine coral sand, acrylic paint and a paint roller. Mix 3 colors, first a light brown and paint the whole rock. Blow a bit of coral sand onto the still wet paint so it will stick. Let dry. Then mix a dark purple and paint again (but not the entire rock) and again blow a bit of coral sand into the wet dark purple. Let dry. Finally mix a light purple for the highlights.

Oh thanks mate! So glad its inspired you 🙌🙌🙌 For this scape I used about 20 bottles of glue! The axia was incredibly difficult to find so ive sourced my own brand and works just as well!
@tylerl.46993 жыл бұрын
Great content man, but I have a question. Super glue supposedly deteriorates in saltwater over time. I think that's why they suggest gluing and puttying frags if you want them to stay in place (because eventually the glue gets worn down and loses its effect). Do you know if the same will happen here? Is there anything about the chemical reaction that prevents that deterioration?
@firsttimereefertv1588
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! This process I feel is completely different to glueing frags. With frags the glue consistency is thicker which therefore means the purity is lower as there has been a thickening agent added. The glue is use is 97% pure cyanoacrylate and it wicks into the powder that cause a chemical reaction to set. Unlike coral glue that stays as a blob of glue. Im confident over time that there will be no issues but will certainly report if there are any! I know other have used this method and their scape is still rock solid 4-5 years on. I question if putty would even last that long without cracking!
@MikeLemming2 жыл бұрын
Hello David! New subscriber here! How’s the scape doing now? I just built one and was a little worried about the long term durability. How’s it going? Thanks!

I just don't trust superglue for an aquascape. I mean it's ok for small rubble, but for big jobs I use E-Marco 400. Nice scape though bro for sure!!
@firsttimereefertv1588
3 жыл бұрын
Time will tell on how long this will last but from my research there seems to be no issues. Emarco400 is definitely very strong but also allows for slight flex to avoid breaking. But the process of mixing the product, short working times and mess afterwards doesn't make it my top choice. Thanks of watching!
@Harolddespui
3 жыл бұрын
Superglue alone is rubbish, but the trick is combined with powder you're basically making speed-cement which bonds like crazy. The fact you can't break it on the joints anymore tells me enough that this is very secure.
@coreybates93223 жыл бұрын

@Harolddespui

Super ultra mega cool....

@firsttimereefertv1588
3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! You can make the scapes as small as youd like!! Doing them in sections is actually better
How do you flatten the rock that way, or did you buy it like that? Do you know the best way to flatten a rock without it crumbling in pieces? I would assume like a Sanding belt or bandsaw but would like to know the best way to get the rock flat like the ones you have in this video.
AWESOME video!!!! until i cameacross your videoI had a different plan. You helped a mate from other side of the world!!!! how many bottle of glue did you use?
@firsttimereefertv1588
3 жыл бұрын
Oh thanks mate! So glad its inspired you 🙌🙌🙌 For this scape I used about 20 bottles of glue! The axia was incredibly difficult to find so ive sourced my own brand and works just as well!
@firsttimereefertv1588
@firsttimereefertv1588
3 жыл бұрын
Time will tell on how long this will last but from my research there seems to be no issues. Emarco400 is definitely very strong but also allows for slight flex to avoid breaking. But the process of mixing the product, short working times and mess afterwards doesn't make it my top choice. Thanks of watching!
@Harolddespui
3 жыл бұрын
Superglue alone is rubbish, but the trick is combined with powder you're basically making speed-cement which bonds like crazy. The fact you can't break it on the joints anymore tells me enough that this is very secure.
Amazing tutorial. I’m planning on making a very similar scape for a 75 gal 4’ long tank and I’m going to use the same glue. How much glue did you use?
@firsttimereefertv1588

Hey, bro any link for the glue. I'm tired of receiving glue that got set when they arrived...

@firsttimereefertv1588

Hey mate! All the details are in the video but the rock is marco rock “base rock” and “shelf rock”. The glue is a thin viscosity cyanoacrylate glue. Are you based in the states?
@pdiehm

@@firsttimereefertv1588 yep. No rush it’s on hold
My experience has been that as the rock 'wets' the joint comes loose from the CA glue.. and falls apart eventually, especially when using sand as a filler... Epoxy is much better at those joints.
